Though I still have my 'buyer pays after buying' button ticked on my BIN listings. Therefore UPI can take care of nonpaying buyers, and I still get the extra point on the listing for "sold".

It was a Seiko quartz chronograph, a movie accurate collectible seen in a Bond film, in near-mint condition.

I think eBay is actually great for selling vintage watches. I do quite well myself for running a nice little side project. This is a hobby of mine, and it makes nice supplemental income. In fact, this income goes straight into two things: the acquisition of new inventory and paying my rent. My hobby is sustained and it keeps me in a nice apartment.

But for threads like these, I'll just bitch and complain about the occasional bad customer.

Feedbacks have always been a way to evaluate a seller, it's simple solution that judges the seller based on the buyers opinion of how the transaction went.

Of course, when eBay rolled out the new Seller Dashboard in 2014 everything change.

You were now not only criticized for feedbacks, but

>Cases
>Tracking uploaded
>Shipping time (not even your fault)
>% of transactions

Shipping time is even not controlled by you, once USPS/FedEx/UPS/etc has your package you shouldn't be held accountable, right? Wrong, eBay will say "you chose that carrier to ship your item, so you are at fault" then give you a defect on your account.

So anyways, they're slowly getting rid of a lot of these evaluations because they're coming to their sense to see that a lot of sellers are leaving because they don't want to be judged for things out of their control.

You will still be able to leave negative feedbacks, but it won't be evaluated in the seller dashboard. It just won't be evaluated by eBay, not saying they won't still ban you for have a lot of negative feedbacks, lol.

Basically, eBay is making it so you can't just go around posting items anymore. They want you to have the items ID. You know, because mostly every product made has it's own unique ID (UPC), sort of like the bar-code you see on a book.

Now you have the option of choosing "I don't have it" if you're selling an item that doesn't have UPC (Universal Product Code), something you made, an off brand iPhone cases, etc. Because not everything has a UPC.

But you WILL have to edit ALL your listings to either put a UPC or select the opt-out option. If not, your listing will be shut down when the time runs out.

No, your mother shouldn't sell on eBay, she'll be dead by the end of the year with all the stress she has to deal with.

Unfortunately I am 2,000 miles away for the time being, if it is that stressful then I wouldn't want to put her through it. I think I'll still float the idea and if she is interested I will inform her it is supposedly very stressful. She handles stress well, but has an almost completely broken down body. No problem

If she's trying to get rid of dads old junk, then by all means she can spam the site and write in big BOLD letters in the description "It's yours to keep if you don't like it".

Therefore she will be dealing with either 50% scammers wanting old shit for free, or 50% honest people that knows she's honest as well. Sooooo, she would still make some money either way & not have to deal with calling eBay for negative feedbacks or return requests, etc.

Shipping isn't an issue, the postman can take her mail everyday.

All she has to do is order USPS boxes from the USPS site (free), where she can get as many as she wants. Then print the labels with eBay & simply request a pickup for the week. Or just hand the parcels to the postman.

Allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go.

Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

I have one that sells good and makes up about 80% of the sales.

My computer does the majority of the work on that one, about 75% of the work and the rest is me writing down the buyer's address, putting finish product in manila envelope, driving, standing, and more driving. All-in-all for $47, 75% of the time I'm waiting and 25% of the time I'm actually doing something.

So for 10 sales, I spend 2 hours waiting, writing, standing, and driving. 75% of 2 hours is 90 minutes, reaming 25% is 30 minutes. I had about 30ish sales from that. 30 / 10 = 3 * 30 = 1 hour and 30 mins I spend on 30ish sales.

I'll round it up to 2 hours I spend on 30ish sales for $47. That's about $23.5 an hour. And as of right now I'm shit posting while waiting for my computer to finish up here.

Rest of the sales are made up of similar; where my computer does majority of the work.

One though, which is where I have no production cost is literally 90% of my computer doing the work and me just typing shit into blank boxes.

I do sell on Etsy as well, that's where I actually have to do work unfortunately. But my profit margins are insanely worth it.

From some posts in this thread it seems like American buyers are hellish in comparison to UK. 6 times last month I sent out an item that I thought the buyer would return due to having small stains, frayed cuffs or whatever, but none have even message me, and some even left positive feedback.

No, an unpaid strike only dings your account.

So when other sellers (usually none) tick pic related, you won't be able to buy their item.

Then again you can just make another eBay account(3min) or just buy as guest, so it's pretty much fucking useless.

>Pic related
I mean really, do you see this? You can't block buyers with only 1 unpaid strike, it has to be two. Also you only have 1 or 6 months duration to choose from.

What buyer has a -1 feedback score these days? All they have to do is buy a .99 item from a Chinese seller and a feedback will be left for them automatically. It's not like sellers can leave negative feedbacks to help other sellers out...

Why don't we have the option to block buyers at any amount of feedbacks, account issues, etc?
