The payment network system is worth literally trillions, if you actually checked the slack then you would see the REQ team is securing the right partners and they have high level financial guys in their telegram. Check their github, there's work being done literally everyday. I will pity those who didn't buy REQ at these prices come next bull run.

Paypal is profitable because it charges a percentage fee + they get interest on deposits.
Constant number of Req get burned while sending a request, that's it.

Request Network can be built as an app on Ethereum without any underlying token, thus reducing the fee to gas network fee.
