People are in panic mode because ETH delayed sharding. Probably still the best smart contract platform, but I think a lot of people are turning to others in hopes of making profits on those in the mean time. Come up with your own strategy to try to catch the bottom on ETH and you will be fine. Plasma/sharding/casper etc, will all pump the price greatly.
