Bitfinex engaged in massive fraud involving their sister company Tether printing unbacked money, orderspoofing, washtrading, and moved the price so high real money got in. Now thousands of idiots invested their life savings in the scam and are emotionally involved into shouting down the voice of reason. To further confuse the debate, most people who are against Bitcoin are irrational themselves.

There is no reason whatsoever to believe this will happen to Ethereum. ETH's "Bitcoin fraud" was the bullrun of early 2017 propped up by scam ICOs, then piggybacking on the Bitcoin peak.
