I really think there's a lot of opportunity for shit to fuck up, and yet, the S&P 500 just broke out of it's correction and we're hitting a record high for CAPE... not sure what to think of it all.

EEM has moved with the S&P until this year where they diverge immensely.

Some people might be wagecucks at sub-50k, others might be making as much as 150k...
but in general 50k or 200k still requires substantially time saving up -- typically many years of penny pinching at both ends of the spectrum.

The variance in how much we make isn't substantial enough to be a full magnitude or two.
But, the variance in the size of our portfolios is definitely several magnitudes occasionally.

I think that our income is taking on much more of a regular old normal distribution,
while our portfolio size is more of a bimodal, or possibly even inverse normal distribution

I like to say that in regular "long" investing (as opposed to short selling), the odds are tilted in your favor -- the market goes up on average.
On the other hand with options, thanks to theta decay, this is not necessarily the case. The odds are actually probably tilted against you if you're buying options.

Covered calls are writing options rather than buying them, and I wouldn't call them gambling.

When people here say that "options are gambling", they are typically referring to buying naked calls and puts, which we will frequently see done with irrational exuberance by small spec.s that aren't doing very much calculating out of their risk.
This is what separates investing from gambling -- "informed" decision making and calculating out your risk.

it's so difficult to pick stocks over the weekend so because they could go either way on monday. I think the best thing to do is to watch them the first day and gauge market sentiment and make plays on tuesday.
