This weeks's Occult Market Prediction:

As usual, the overall situation is at top with the contributing factors below.

6 of Wands: Victory, Success, Rising Up
Mother of Wands: A vibrant woman with great pain or trama in her life
The World: Wholeness, Completion
7 of Swords: Secrecy, Self interest

6 of Wands instantly confirms the continuation of the golden bull. I predict a very successful week for /smg/. Those who have so far failed to find success will find it, unless you gamble on degenerate options Comfy. The mother of Wands I believe refers to RKG, who will finally get green longing the SPY. The world card is intresting. I believe China is at play here. The World card signifies connectedness but also that there is still work to be done. I quite frankly don't know what to make of the 7 of Swords, it's appearance is quite omnious. Someone, perhaps China, has a secret, whether it is good or bad I cannot tell. Possibly he secret will be revealed this week, or possibly it is influencing things behind the scenes.

This is just my intrepretation of the tarrot. I'm sure there are others. If you have your own intrepretation, feel free to chime in.

There is definitely a lot of attention on emerging markets lately.

I really think there's a lot of opportunity for shit to fuck up, and yet, the S&P 500 just broke out of it's correction and we're hitting a record high for CAPE... not sure what to think of it all.

>muh global synchronized growth meme
that shit was so artificial it wasnt even funny anyways. the only reason the rest of the world was allowed anything was cuz FED dropped rates to zilch and kept em there. free money for anyone w a pulse (or foreign central bank).

i say, good. make em work for it. this brings competition back onto the table. only the good ones will survive, the rest will crash and burn and ultimately drive more wealth here

my bets on the badgoy EU cunts in eastern and central europe (poland, austria, hungary etc) and maybe brazil actually. os macacos have been bouncing back pretty hard from their semi collapse earlier this year. their irrelevance serves them well. i know they have a lot of chinese stuff there tho, so asia jumping would be bad obviously

regardless, i aint buying ANY of em just yet

May's brexit demands are incompatable with EU's demands

>no border in ireland
>but north ireland will not be subject to seperate laws than rest of uk

>access to Eurozone while controlling the flow of people
>when Eurozone only allows access when there is total freedom of movement of people

there are so many more reasons that it wont work, but irelands veto power alone is enough to cause hard brexit

and UK politicians have been resigning left and right because May is steering them into a brick wall, full speed

avoid UK markets until 2030 at best, even then they probably wont have recovered completely

Brexit is the very definition of a slow motion train wreck, and we have not even begun to see the carnage

If I put effort in and semi actively trade, like hold things for a week to 6 months or more at a time, can you relatively easily beat the 'buy and do nothing' of like 8% annually? My goal is to spend maybe 10 hours a week and look for a 25% annual return so I can retire within 15 years or so, is that possible when dealing with low amounts of money, relative to the market makers? yes
just buy a bunch of different stocks (50+), and hold

you will have a 95% chance of beating the SP500 index fund by just doing that

The Coca-Cola company has the market for fizzy soft drinks by the balls, and whether the country is an economic boom or a recession, it is human nature to chase cheap, short-term pleasure.

The Coca-Cola Company also finds new ways to squeeze out profits. For example, Coke-mini bottles, which are 30 percent costlier per ounce, still had positive sales figures. They understand the irrational mind of the soft-drink consumer, and are master manipulators, as evidenced by their history of masterful marketing campaigns.

Not staying behind the times, Coke has in recent history explored, and found great success, in the so called "healthy beverages" market. By selling sugary fruit drinks to the desperate corpulent masses, Coke reassures its customers that they are doing their part to not develop type II diabetes.

For the above reasons, it's no surprise that $KO has seen a 10 percent annual increase. $KO is a smart long, buy your calls now.

Vanguard is passive index investing.
I got another 20k to 30k across fidelity and my bank accounts, but I consider those to be "net worth" -- I'm not actively managing them.

Net worth is interesting, but not as interesting as the stake that somebody is confident enough to actively invest in equities in the context of this thread.

Yes, to be on the safe side you withdraw from stocks about 1 year after inversion. You can look at other stuff like monthly SMAs or stock price to ST yield ratio to time it correctly.

then you should ask "how much do you have allocated to actively trade?"
people often have money in non-retirement accounts that they are holding for long term and rarely trade those positions. people often have retirement accounts on their main brokerage, people often have several brokerages that they actively trade on

I'd rather restrict it to a single question.

Some people might be wagecucks at sub-50k, others might be making as much as 150k...
but in general 50k or 200k still requires substantially time saving up -- typically many years of penny pinching at both ends of the spectrum.

The variance in how much we make isn't substantial enough to be a full magnitude or two.
But, the variance in the size of our portfolios is definitely several magnitudes occasionally.

I think that our income is taking on much more of a regular old normal distribution,
while our portfolio size is more of a bimodal, or possibly even inverse normal distribution

wait until people start bidding on them, and you'll see the mid price adjusted correctly. 0 bid price means no bidders and no volume, so go ahead and try to get that free money that would've been instantly arbed out by the algo's and HFT's.

>Hi stock nerds why are options gamble
Much higher risk.
Also, theta decay is a bitch.
I like to say that in regular "long" investing (as opposed to short selling), the odds are tilted in your favor -- the market goes up on average.
On the other hand with options, thanks to theta decay, this is not necessarily the case. The odds are actually probably tilted against you if you're buying options.

>covered calls and credit spreads can be very profitable
Covered calls are writing options rather than buying them, and I wouldn't call them gambling.

When people here say that "options are gambling", they are typically referring to buying naked calls and puts, which we will frequently see done with irrational exuberance by small spec.s that aren't doing very much calculating out of their risk.
This is what separates investing from gambling -- "informed" decision making and calculating out your risk.

but i've watched a lot of bubbles and usually they are around 10x returns over 5-10 years. 150 is a very high limit I think NKE can climb to in the next couple years. It's not irrationally exuberant just yet.

Its not a risk when starting at the bottom. Theres this cool quote I read somewhere about only the very rich or very poor being able to take risks. The very poor have nothing to lose while the very rich have a lot to lose so dont fear much loss. My family made around 14k a year and now me and my mom, dad out of the picture, found a factory job and work 80 hour work weeks and we doubled our yearly income in 3 months. And I'm putting the majority if my paychecks into stocks.
