10867193 No.10867193 [Reply] [Original]

So today was my first work day at the new job. And it feels like a fucking disaster in my mind(although nobody even probably cares). I am working on a construction site but not as a construction worker but we are doing electrical installing.

So what's the problem? Problem is my low iq. I just can't process any verbal information or commands on the fly. If i am told to do XYZ verbally i have already half forgotten the x part and can't recall anything about z the second that person has said it. And after that my existential dread and anxiety kicks in because i can't recall half of what i was told to do. And i don't want to run to the person to ask again every time they told me to do something because that would kick my anxiety into overdrive.

I just don't know what to do. This happened in my past job too but due to the nature of that job it didn't matter.

Some type of office work would be probably better since you have shit written down or some type of instructions and time to think but it's not an option for me.

To summarize i am worse off than a regular iq person since i can't memorize anything.

How do i manage this shit?

>/fit/
>start healthy balanced diet and avoid trash food
>cardio or weightlifting
>enough sleep and cold showers
>exercise your brain by reading (nonfiction)
>start learning a music instrument
>dump (((TV))) (((Radio)))
Try this it helped me a lot. If your Brain doesnt get proper nutrition and demand to "work" it litterally starts degrading. Imagine Astronauts who cant barely walk after theyve been in space because their muscle degraded.

If you're low IQ you better hope you're a nigger so you can get diversity hired. People subconsciously expect niggers to underperform because they're fucking stupid.

Aren't problems with processing other peoples intent literally autism, not low IQ? Your post seems oddly articulate.

Can relate, have ADHD to. I'm not dumb (got actually an extremely good job).

But I do fuck up when people tell me shit and I need to do it on the spot. I always write everything down. Make small summaries of the things you need to do and how you need them to do.

Im not using any meds btw.

Well writing shit down on a construction site when you are a labourer on a construction site and everything you do has to be pretty much done on spot is not an option. Not for simple tasks surely.

>>10868240
I don't have problems processing intent. I have problem remembering/processing verbal commands. (Odd articulation comes from me being tired, few beers and and not being a native english speaker.)

sounds not like you are low IQ (and I think you know that) but more like you are CONSTANTLY stressed out/have anxiety which prevents you from memorizing things.
Many studies have shown that in high stress situations new information is hardly processed by individuals who are not used to it.

You need to work on your anxiety and what causes it. Talk to a doctor and let him prescribe you something to make you calmer like mild benzos so that you have a short to mid term solution to your problem and can start working on the long-term solution which should include therapist sessions and maybe meditation.
But that is up to you and your Therapist. Sport, sleep and nutrition are also important in general but those alone wont solve your problem.

for a bunch of mentally challenged mutts, some of you are surprisingly self aware.I'm mpressed. Sounds like a mental issue of sorts, go get checked OP, like others said ADHD.

Stressed out/anxiety thing is right in the target. Going to the doctor is the only logical way but this shit will leave a record in your medical history.

I used to think like you but in reality your anxiety wont go away without help.
I am pretty sure that the disadvantages of having anxiety in your medical record are only applicable in very few cases.
Normally noone will be able to see them apart from your doctors.

I think you are overthinking this and using it as an excuse to not seek real help.

Some jobs are actually better for people with ADHD than others. You may want to look into switching careers before you invest too much time into this and become the victim of a sunk cost fallacy.

I'm a production oordinator and it's great because I always have a laptop or something in front of me that I can take notes on.

I get ya. But sometimes there are no ways out in short or even mid term.
And since i live in a small shitty Eastern european town there are no such employment options.

Plus i'm completely broke. So can't even move.

Look bro, you forget all that stuff cous this is new shit to you. You ever been to a restaurant and ordered something and the waiter doesn't write it down and gets a 5 person order right? That waiter is not a genius, hes just so familiar with the menu items that he's recalling things he knows already. You just started, you're not only trying to memorize what they tell you to do, youre trying to memorize actions and items that might still be foreign to you. Memorize a phatse in english, easy right? Now memorize it in latin, not so easy. Just familiarize yourself with the work and lingo and you'll be fine. Your existential dread and anxiety" is just a self fulfilling prophecy, and makes you look like a bitch amongst your fellow construction workers.

Also this.

I have the same issues (+ a few others) but I sit somewhere on the spectrum between adhd and schizo. Antipsychs are helping me a lot as the ones im taking are upregulating my d2 receptors which have been incredibly low since birth. Haven't fixed all my issues but a good % so far.

yeah they they usually do make you fat and you become quite numb normally. but it can still help a lot long term when you have therapy and a plan of quitting after a year or a bit longer.
the thing is, that you can't take them whenever you feel bad - you either take them regularly or never.

Had them offered to me, but was scared of the side effects as I was already fat. The meticulous planning thing was also not realistic to execute. Thank good for OTC stimulants. Literally saved my life, even if they are suboptimal.

I have no problem with advanced concepts or such I just end up with a processing bottleneck if too much information comes at me at once.
