Haven't seen this popping up here on biz. Our prophet talks at 1:38:40 https://vod.video.cornell.edu/media/Sharding+-+Vitalik+Buterin/1_1xezsfb4/97851101

Vitalik is still teasing him though, that skinny devil. "If a certain token becomes very popular, lets say for example OmiseGo, it can get its own shard". Pretty sure Sergey has a different token in mind that is getting that shard.
Also side note: Its the same shirt again!

Or how about I give you an example.

Let's look at someone paying their employee.

First the employer signs the check.
That check then is given to the employee.
That employee takes the check and gives it to the bank.
The bank then puts it through a system to make sure the funds exist, and then put the funds into the new account.
This process takes approximately 2 days, although it can be reduced to 1 if you use the same bank, it can be raised if there are issues.

Now with a smart contracts, lets say you have a system that automatically pays them based on their wages. The banks get the information about the amount of money existing in account A instantly, and the money can be transferred to the new account instantly.
Instead of total Time = t + 2 days, it becomes t + 2 minutes, or even less.

Not only this, but it requires substantially less actual labor since no one has to manually verify these units, as when the requirements of the contract are fulfilled it goes through automatically.

But hey, you just don't get it.

Vitalik is on a completely different level from Sergey. To say Sergey is "teasing him" is to comment that you're being teased by a fly who strays too close to your ear. He is so far beyond Sergey he probably barely acknowledges him as a person, let alone a business partner.

Essentially, smart contracts are peer-to-peer agreements.
For instance, you could set up a mortgage smart contract where investors can crowdfund the money for a house, with all the shit like payments (and proportional allocation to the respective investors) transparently set in stone in advance.

This completely bypasses banks and notaries etc.

So yes, I think you're missing something.

Derivatives and Bonds will be the top use cases for smart contracts as they will remove many of the manual processes that Corporate and Bank Back Office teams have to do currently. Smart contracts will literally save everyone time and money in those two areas, while improving the speed and accuracy of execution.

Serg on the other hand sounded very nervous, especially at the end he sounded like he got told. Then there was the uncontrolled arm waiving spasm.

Yup, and it slows things down and leads to errors. For example, a jet fuel derivative contract settles in T+5. That’s five working days after the fixing rate for the derivative is set. Insane! A smart contract could do the fixing on T+1 (when Bloomberg releases the fixing rate) and settlement could occur the same day (or more likely on T+2). 3 days minimum could be saved easily.

That's the most retarded logic I've ever seen good trips wasted on. By your logic, no new innovation ever goes to market since it costs jobs, are you a complete idiot? That's not how anything works, if a business can save money it does. I have a company, with 3 employees - 20 years ago I'd have needed 6 or 7 to do the same work (in-house book keeper, a clerk etc - now we just have spreadsheets and software). If I can replace all my employees, myself included I will. If I don't, my competitors will.

The absolute state of this fucking board.

A 150+ post thread debating whether there are hidden secret intimations about the future of crypto within the body language of a simple Q&A interaction.

I am so utterly ashamed to be a part of this community that I literally wish all of you the cruelest hell on earth. I hope each and every one of you dies a horrific death. I hope all of you wearing your faggot plaid Sergey shirts are burned alive in them.

Fuck ALL OF YOU for wasting my fucking life in this disgusting retarded pathetic excuse of a finance forum.

You are all so pathetic and hopeless that you've taken to PRESUMING that slight movements of hands equates to your guaranteed wealth. Meanwhile in actual reality, Sergey is stuck asking Vitalik pretty basic questions about sharding that any casual observer (let alone programmer) should have and would have known by now.

You people are so braindead that you took what ought to be a demonstration of incompetence as a GUARANTEE OF RICHES.

I fucking HATE all of you.
