Housing has apparently gotten so expensive in Commiefornia that even people making six figures out of the big tech offices like Google, Twitter are living out in their vans. They have whole trailer parks dedicated for these people. There's also a mass exodus of people leaving Cali along with NJ and NY due to such high housing costs, everyone is fleeing south.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/realestate/california-real-estate-is-so-expensive-that-families-retirees-and-even-tech-workers-are-living-in-cars-and-vans/ar-BBMfwgs?li=BBnb7Kz

It's the redpilled thing to do. While basedboys shell out 4k a month for an apartment, you can live in a Mercedes Sprinter for <$300/mo, saving you >40K a year.

Alternatively, you can share a shitty apartment for ~800-1000$/mo and have a 40 minute commute to work. I'd rather live by myself desu.

Almost everyone who wants to make it these days sleeps in their office/van in California. Anyone else, is just a debtslave.

It's the same thing with this shit. Yeah you make $200k but you live out in a van and pay double or triple the national average for everything, how is that a good quality of life you fucking brainlet? I don’t see why you’re so uptight about this, they’re obviously not doing it because it’s fucking luxurious so there must be a benefit that you’re missing. Probably that enormous check that comes through every month.
Let’s just some quick math and assume $200,000 is a good example salary for a google job. They pay more than that for a lot of positions.
$200k. Maybe 25% gets taxed. So you keep $150k. That’s $12,500 a month. You’re a real classy fuck and spend $5,000 a month on yourself. Food etc. Plus you have a car payment. Maybe all in all that’s $7,500 a month. You have $5,000 left for the rent.
How the fuck is this not enough for any housing? Or do they just not want to drive more than 20 minutes? That’s plenty.

>Show me how many people in the midwest are doing that.
They arent doing that because they dont have to. Their expenses are not nearly as bad as yours you brainlet, they dont care. Having lived in both the North, West, and South - the life people lead is better in the midwest and south. You know why?

Because their expenses are so low they dont even care about saving as much as you do. You say you put away $90k as if its an accomplishment. It's not. It literally doesn't concern them.

I dont understand why you dont see the big picture.

First of all they dont pay that much, more like $150,000.

Second of all, the effective tax rate for Cali is like NJ where I lived, its around 40%. That's equal to around $90k a year, and now you need to pay rent, which averages around $3,000 all inclusive.

You are treading water out there. Seriously, alot of you are really naive. I've lived in NJ and out West a little bit. It's not that easy to save.

Do you hear yourself? You are talking about living out in a trailer, saving every penny. Tax rate of 25% just shows you no nothing of the situation, the tax rate is more like 35-40. You are not saving as much as you think.

Meanwhile you can live in a Southern state like North Carolina, Florida, Texas, TN, and effectively make good money while not worrying about getting raped at the pocketbook, you can actually live your life instead of living and scraping by and worrying about every penny you make.

Theres no reason to pay 1.2M for a 2 bedroom starter house regardless of what the Jews want you to think.

For some reason home ownership is glorified and most of us mutts are willing to shell out ridiculous prices to Mr. Shekelstein as well as pay ridicoulous taxes remain in our plastic boxes. In the US, owning a home doesnt mean you own it if you have to pay a 2.5K/mo mortgage and almost 10K/yr in property taxes to avoid getting kicked out.

Some of us just want to save our money and retire in a nice place with reasonable property taxes. Of course finding employment in these kinds of places is trivial, so we need to save a lot.

Compensation =/= salary.

This is like saying Investment Banking analysts only make $20/hr. When you look at total compensation, it works out to ~40/hr starting and shoots up if they dont get kicked out. Same goes for FAANG stocks except the progression caps out at around $350K/yr in compensation. Anyone above that is a manager.

Bonuses and shares are a joke, these are also taxable. You might get 10k on top of your base salary but that’s about it. And don’t start with free food you get sick of it after a month, only pajeets can stomach it for years.
Oh, they do your hair now - great bonus.

This. I do the same thing anon. It's honestly amazing. No bills. Go where ever whenever. I have a hottie that even travels with me. Just pay gas and a cell phone bill. Fuck paying rent, water, trash bills. Any of that shit. It's unironically the easiest way to make it while living with the greatest weather in the world.

Because in-person work is more important. Any engineering project gets done better if people collaborate face-to-face, and sacrifice to succeed. A-players only want to work with A-players. “phoning it in” is for people who don’t give a shit and produce garbage.

Why are you trying to make it sound like its a good deal? It's not, lmao. Who wants to scrap by like a pauper for their best years? It's like you're trying to convince yourself through convincing others that's its somehow a cool thing to do.

>my qol is better
Denial is strong. Qol is exactly that. Your qol is worse because you are living out in a fucking van living like a pauper. Out in the midwest/south we dont have to worry about a commie government raising housing prices. We dont have to worry about paying $2k/month for a fucking closet.

I get actually enjoy my life. Cool idea right? I can bring girls back to my place without having to worry about them being creeped out by going to a van.

After 10-15 years what will you have to show for it? A cool million or two? Wow great job, you have a few million with no g/f, no wife, 10-15 years of memories of slavery and debt, jewing to be a jew, no friends when you move...its not that great of a deal when you think about it.

Face it bro. Well, its denial I guess. You can say "I only sleep in my van" but its your home. It's your only private space. I know the deal, I did the van thing for two months. It gets old and its not what its cracked up to be.

I understand you gotta do what you gotta do but the mental gymnastics about it being a great situation is just a joke.

You would experience a direct QOL increase by moving out Midwest.

Sleeping in a van and sleeping in an tiny 4k/mo apartment is exactly the same. Ive lived in a bedroom when I was in college and trust me, living in a van is about the same if not better. I dont have to deal with loud roommates, am guaranteed to get a good nights sleep, and am centrally located in San Franciso. No commute, cant beat that.

Ive lived in the Midwest. My parents have a 3.5K sqft McMansion, and it definetly beats living in a van, but that doesnt change the fact that I can make a lot more money working in downtown SF.

Yes you'll make more money on paper. Numbers wise you make more money but you are paying the price. Purely on paper yes, but you pay the price by living out in a fucking van. You are also paying the price in other ways, everything you buy there is x2, x3, x4 the price, and you are also paying the price via the work culture. You'll work harder and longer hours out there. You gotta remember everything is taxed

Here out in Fort Worth my room costs ~$750 with utilities. My total cost of living is around 25% of my paycheck, I get a beautiful apartment, bring girls back, no problem, still get to save a vast majority of what I earn, put it into crypto, etc, vacations, go on dates. I could take a job in SF but no way in hell, its just...not worth it.

>> No.10800984

Paying the price for what? My only major expenses are food, gas, clothing, parking. Everything else is paid off. I can invest 95% of my after tax income, and most discretionary items are the same price as the rest of the US.

>> No.10801042

Man, you're in denial. Suit yourself. I did the whole van thing. After experiencing it, its not what its cracked up to be, and you are downplaying everything. I COULD have moved to SF, but you are paying the price via your personal space, your social life, and your work life. You work longer hours in blue states, its a different culture, and its for the worst. I moved here from NJ, the culture is way better in the south. That is another hidden cost you are paying.

Again you are downplaying the van. It's a big deal, its your ONLY personal space. A van is just not the same thing as having an actual place to call your own, I would take a studio anytime over a van.

But you're in denial so suit yourself.

>> No.10801103

>>10801042
Sure, but a studio can be as much as 4K/mo here, unless you wanna sit in traffic 2 hours a day. Id rather save the money. As far as personal space goes, I can always go to work (office is open 24 hours through keycard access) and lock my office. I have more privacy than I did when I was living at home.

I fully understand most people wouldnt be able to do what I am doing, but its just the price you have to pay to have more shekels than your peers.

>> No.10801115

Qol is directly worse living in Commiefornia. No way around it. You might make more money but an extra 20k maybe to live out in a van in SF not fucking worth it. You are living like a pauper while the other lives like a king and still makes good money. No comparison

If rent wasn't so high I wouldn't say so but the fucking vans is the last straw. it's a joke

The same things happens in Texas anytime there is an oil boom. Dipshits think they can go out to Midland/Odessa and make 100k (which they can) but the trade off is you work 100 hours a week, you sleep in a 'man camp', you pay 2x to 3x prices for literally everything and you end up worse off than when you came. Plus most of these faggots rush out and buy a new jacked up truck and have an $800 month payment and when the boom ends they are stuck selling everything.
