I want to start my mining journey by purchasing my own Skyminer.

Already looked up on the website how to order & co.
Can I have some insights from the experienced ones how will this work?

Yes, u can sell bandwidth but it's a long way until is possible. Tell the man the real situation.
The Skyminer can be use for personal purpose. If you care about your data privacy and internet speed, then you should join the fleet. At first, u r going to use it as a layer over the ISP until enough data is collected in order to launch the mainnet.

that's all. nothing fancy. generally skycoin has simple ways of doing things.
the skyminers can be DIYed with any kind of board. there is one machine made with 8 different boards. only official skyminers have orange pi prime boards, for now
