You could do what you want to do with one or two funds. Something like an REIT fund (which surely include staples like Realty Income and Simon Property Group) and then a dividend aristocrat fund. If you do it through Vanguard you pay 0 fees on their funds, if that's the way you go.

is also correct. You need some bonds. I'd go to U.S. treasuries before corporate bonds, because corporate bonds (especially junk debt) track equities rather than acting as a hedge. I like to build a balance sheet of treasuries when yields are high and bonds are cheap, and then when the business cycle turns, sell the bonds off at what I think is the bottom and buy equities.

That's true, but the spikes that it will see along the way can cause liquidation of a short position pretty easily.
To keep the cash on the sidelines to prevent such a liquidation from occurring would make it a much less profitable trade.

I haven't bought options in months.
I wrote at least 8 of them against LCI though -- made hundreds off of thousands getting tied up.
(Hundreds off of thousands doesn't sound exciting ofc, but it was a 6% to 12% yield for a single month, which looks incredible if you sustain it for a full fucking year)

I'd recommend you stop "buying" options and stick with leveraged ETFs like SPXL, TQQQ, FNGU.
It's much less exciting, but... get rich quick schemes, man.

The only options I have right now are SLV puts, which aren't without risk but I'm holding them for a few months and they are very close to ITM. I finally put 90% of my portfolio into a boomer ETF with some fun money on the side for SLV puts, so I'm optimistic for the next couple of months
