90% of the time when we start down a bit, shit just gets bought back up more or less immediately. todays sell off was caused by dollar spike. once DXY settled back down, the markets started going back to normal. shorts covering into close popped us up towards the end, and the rest of the run tomorrow will have the rest of the shorts covering, which could EASILY boost us back to yesterdays close imo

yeah i like doing puts on UVXY and VXX because then you get the contango/futures roll burn working FOR you, so even if VIX stays same, UVXY and VXX will still lose something to the contango. this contango effect worsens the more its IN contango, and the closer to futures expiry.

i say short side is easier than long w vol because its much easier to predict, when the VIX has spiked, that it will go down, than it is to predict when the whole market will suddenly shit itself

personally i like looking at HYG and IWM
imo, both of these lead the market by a decent amount. when you see IWM taking off, and VIX is spiked, buy a UVXY/VXX put (i like the VXX ones better) with some decent time on em (or buy a VIX put, which i do sometimes depending on who has the best premium/delta ratio)

imo the only way to rationally go LONG on VIX is w calls on the CFD (so that in case youre wrong and have to HODL, you dont get assblasted by contango), but its MUCH harder to call the long side, like i said. the market goes up more than it goes down

With trading, it's all nebulous stuff like "oh yea meditation maaaan" or "my style wouldn't work for you, we all have to discover our own unique way of doing things!" You hear people say "if making money was all about math, mathematicians would be the richest people on Earth!" but the statement can be modified and applied to trading: "if trading was all about psychology, psychologists would be the best traders on Earth."
