Not sure if this is /biz/ related but... after you buy illicit drugs like heroin, where does the cash go besides the obvious like food, and such for the dealer?

I suppose I meant like a ladder.
After he goes to a supplier then, who supplies the supplier, etc until you reach the top.

I was actually wondering about security. I know getting into a cartel or gang would involve more than submitting a resume. Do they look for people that may be ex-military or corrupt cops, maybe?

dealer (usually shotting, or selling on loan) -> dealer's dealer -> distributer -> ??? -> ??? -> Mexico?

Generally it goes something like

Street dealer(low IQ thugs)
Higher street dealer(thugs LARPing as normal people)
Distributors(usually organized gangs like mexicans or hells angels)
Importers(triad, cartels)
Producers(third world governments are corrupt and in on it)
And finally you have intelligence such as the CIA running everything using the untraceable money for nefarious geopolitical purposes

at a higher level joining an existing op is mostly circumstance and the ability to supply a demand or provide a service. in other words, you need to be from the right place and know the right people. there is no concrete logic supply chain as it varies from the drug to the destination. for example, most xanax powder comes from Canada or China, and never touches Mexico. Bulk LSD blotters are laid out in like 3 places in America that I trusted. Mdma comes from Netherlands and Canada. Heroin can come from anywhere in the world due to the entirety of Asia also being involved in manufacturing. Cocaine takes a lot of land, so it's mostly South America. Most drugs these days come through the mail. Any sort of show trying to depict the way these guys organize are usually incorrect. It's part of their business model to fill cracks and change things up often enough to avoid serious crackdown. generally the main job of "cartel" is purely territorial and helps with instilling distribution and protection from the law. The only real money in drugs is manufacturing and smuggling
