For me it was probably majoring on a pre-med track in college and not just doing CS or business from the start like the other normans.

Turns out it took me until junior year to realize that I didn't want to go $500k into debt and start my career at 32.

Pretty much I’m basically a NEET that sits in an office while at work, 0 mo itering of what I do and probably only 1-2 hours worth of real “work” a day. When someone does walk by I set down my phone and click buttons to make it look like I’m doing something. You should have seen my old office before I got moved I would literally just listen to music, take naps and meditate for several hours a day it was great. Now I actually have to sort of pretend I do something. Going to university. Even with a CS degree while my job choices were great, I was already earning more than any base salary I was offered when I left college. So now while technically I do still have a software business, Essentially all the code I've use to write said software is stuff I learned on my own, none of which was taught to me during university.

That said, I called it a couple of hours ago(I live on the other side of the world from you amerifags) - what's it like working in an office? I'm genuinely curious because I work out of a coworking space and always have. Is it really as miserable as people say? I really want to know.

also there is a more advance version of "doing what you love" that is formed like a ven diagram, with other variables, like "what society needs the most", "give reputation/status", "give high pay", pick the one that is in intersection of all those. this is different for everyone

Same. I just ended 10 years of cooking to work in a wearhouse doing manual labor for $21 an hour plus benefits, and they're going to pay for my trade school fees to be an electrician. One good thing that came of it was my culinary school lost a class action lawsuit and im getting like $15,000 out of it plus a good case for a lawyer to get my student loan debt completely vaporized out of existence.

Cooking is a terrible life anon. Get out before it's too late. Imagine a life where you don't hear another ticket printer ever again, not smelling like garlic and bleach at the end of the night, not having to put up with shitty servers while they make more money than you, those random mystery cook temps somewhere between medium and med-rare and other random mystery create your own menu tableside tickets. Imagine having good insurance, a hundred hours of paid time off saved up, and a skilled trade that actually pays. It only takes a year or so to get through a trade school. Be an electrician, millwright, machinist, welder, or anything really.

>> No.10706400

Not the anon that posted that but can confirm. I fell for the same meme. It's a high stress low pay lifestyle. On the positive side, 10 years of fine dining and hotel experience means I can cook better than anybody I know. I got out of it last year and never looked back. I wouldn't say I regret it, probably still would have done it, but I wish I'd have gotten out sooner than I did.

100% correct. That's what I planned on doing. One of the reasons I got into this was for good insurance. I have regular appointments with a naturopathic chiropractor and I used to be fat so I take care of my body to not let it happen again.
I planned on trying amazon fba (maube it's a stupid idea but I guess I'll find out) while I continue education towards automation and robotics. Other than that I have a couple other income sources and my house will be paid off in a few years. Investing in real estate is kind of a no brainer.

The big thing with trades is to do your time (apprentice/journeyman/master) and then start your own business in said trade while you are still capable of physical labor. Work by yourself and then hire guys to do the field work for you. If you are honest and reasonjable then there is a lot of money to be made. Just be careful because there are a lot of fuckwits in the trades, and you need liability coverage.

Seriousposting for the first time in months. Please respond.

I'm turning 25 next year and I'm a high school dropout with a shit resume (just minwage jobs, massive gaps in the past 3 years because I lost my way, got depressed and went NEET after turning 21yo)
I was happy as fuck, moving on up in life and had 10k cash in the bank at age 20(!!!) and I fucking blew it all in a year. Now 3 years later I'm several thousand dollars in debt and NEET. Due to being a dropout I don't see how I can get into anything other than a community college which may as well be nothing. As much as I enjoyed working in kitchens free from corporate drones and HR harpies, it's not worth the physical toll and late-night lifestyle anymore for the shit pay.
People always ask what uni I went to or what I majored in because I'm well-read and """smart""" (I always scored top 1-2% on standardized tests). I have been seriously considering lying about having something stupid like an English degree for jobs that have a bachelor's as a requirement but this is a gamble and not a long-term solution. I live in Toronto and you can't even get an apprenticeship in a trade without connections (union cap on apprentices bullshit).
I am fully aware that this is my last year to get my shit together or I will be a banklet compared to my peers at age 30 and beyond.

What the fuck do I do? I want out of this fucking country and I trapped myself like a retard. I know I am intellectually capable of going to university but I'm pretty sure I cucked myself out of it by dropping out. I also don't know if it's even worth it to graduate around 30 when degree inflation makes them less and less valuable (this is IF I could even get into a decent uni). Please share your wisdom, elders. My soul is dying.

>Icebreaker: What's the worst non-crypto decision you've made in your life?
Maybe more of an indecision, but I don't think I've taken any meaningful risks in my life. It's all been "path of least resistance" and dealing with things as they come.

Once I'm in a more stable position financially (so that I'm not totally ruined from a gamble) I hope to take one of those leaps.

Definitely take more risks. Things didn't start looking up for me until I started taking risks. That includes quitting a job to free up some time, if you need to.
