Is it possible to become smarter? I'm not a normie tier brainlet but I do have a hard time grasping complicated concepts and I have trouble staying focused for more than 5 minutes as my thoughts start to wander away. I have organization and planning issues at well. It sounds like a signs of ADD or could it just be lack of self-discipline and laziness? I just don't want to get on medication if it's add.

As a 30 years old boomer, Im not as quick as I used to be intellectually which bothers me. Ive always been above average but the slight delay in recall sometimes makes me think if early 20s was more of my peak. Not sure if its just age, I always thought when I was put under once on anesthesia that my thought process was slightly altered after that but who knows.

I can still learn as I can speak a 2nd language now that I started learning last year. Probably important to keep learning/reading and staying curious.

Yep. Math bachelor made me smart as fuck.
I'm not even joking, but I worked pretty hard (equivalent of 4.0 gpa in heidelberg, germany).

Do various IQ puzzles, games, questions, etc.
Also exercise, eat healthy, and take supplements like essential fatty acids, which all ultimately help your brain and will help prevent it from deteriorating.

Unironically your first step is to moderate your participation on 4chan, this place will not make you smarter. Try cutting back to 30 minutes a day.

Not true. This place is great for finding the occasional radical thought or concept you couldn’t see in mainstream media.

If you have been like that since you were kid then it's probably ADD although it might also be lack of self-discipline. You should do some ADD tests to see whether you have it or not

you will need medication, it will kickstart your rehabilitation

you;re not retarded you're just full with brain fog and cant hold your thoughts

but being able to pay attention is the most powerfull thing there is/ Trust me. You can only understand shit if you can deeply understand and listen to it/ If your mind wanders of you're fucked

Luckily you can change, you can train yourself to be more attentive, focus, meditate, take some ritalin

Go for some nootropics like Adrafinil and aniracetam

you'll get such a rush of being focused you'll feel so god damn smart you wont believe it/ Pursue that feeling untill it is within you without the meds

Brain plasticity, train your brain, used meds to kicsktart GL anon

Also: if you are trying to learn new stuff, read strictly linearly, and make sure that you understood EVERYTHING before you move on to the next section.
You can learn anything this way. Maybe some things are going to take a long time to understand, but at the end it's always worth it.

every one can become smarter. what you have to do is test yourself and be honest with yourself. you need to find your data retention time frame. each person has a maximum amount of time they can store data. this can be viewed with pages of a book or minutes of a movie/ tv show

the average person cant retain a full 30 minutes of data in video form and has gaps. so decades ago through study they found switching subjects back and forth between 15 minute intervals helped most students dramatically

you can also increase your maximum data retention time frame over time but you have to basically read a lot and then test yourself or binge watch shit and test yourself.

some would laugh but the average harvard gran just paid their way through. a couple years ago a student who doesnt exist got a A without ever showing up or taking any tests. a professor thought the exam grades seemed to consistent of another professor and he added a name to the list of the other professor

>but can't improve your ability to grasp and solve abstract problems
For that filling in the gaps you have in your foundation for understanding abstract problems would be helpful. By studying math for example, or learning to make complex 3D visualizations.
If you fill in all the gaps (or most of them), your abstraction skills are going to suddenly moon.
