semi-monthly? you mean every 2 weeks?

>> No.10680609

>>10680574
No, twice a month regardless of timing, like "1st and 15th pay." Bi-weekly means 26 checks a year, semi-monthly is 24. Same amount regardless, but people who are shit at budgeting tend to use that "free" check that happens twice a year as money down the drain.

Dude the reason they do this isn't to jip you. It is to make payroll simple.

All they do is take your yearly salary and divide by 24 then add in overtime.

Never said it was. I've worked under multiple payroll schema (once monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly, weekly, daily,) and the only time I've seen a 'benefit' is exactly what I said, shitty people who can't budget who end up blowing the 2 "extra" paychecks.

Personally, I prefer semi-monthly. Makes it simple to budget everything, everything is timed and you know exactly when your money is there. It's not "Oh, this month it's the 3rd, 17th, and 31st, and next month it's the 14th and the 28th, and October will be the 12th and the 26th."
