I think it's a good time to have an education thread, i'm starting university soon and I have a couple questions for some of the older /biz/ bros.

Should I pursue something that interests me or should I chose something that will give me the most chance at having a good paying job?

Are the top rated schools much better than the average schools?

What are your personals experiences/advices?

Pharmacy should be downgraded to shit tier.

It will be in a literal hiring crisis within a couple years.

If you're actually smart enough to get a doctorate in a STEM field (meaning all A's in HS with low effort) then I'd recommend Dentistry if it's medical.

That is a really wacky and random list. I operated gas wells and loved it btw, on top of that it payed very well.

I didn't have good enough grades in hs(mainly because i didnt attend half the classes and every teacher hated me since i was still doing alright) to enter med school, but once I have a GPA rating, can I try to enter med school or do I need to be a graduate? not sure of how this all works.

I would say do something that interests you.

I would have pursued something like linguistics/literature or done a degree in a foreign language if I had my choice. Instead I miserably made my way through a stem degree and because I couldn't stand the thought of more school I didn't do anything with it.

Do not do it lad. Do something you think you'll like and do be afraid to change your mind or explore options.

great advice, I'm entering buisness school, but like you, I am also interested in linguistics and litterature as well as psychology. I plan on doing 1 session and maybe reevaluate my path after that.

You have to have a bachelors at least, and the right pre-reqs for whatever school you're applying too. Most have identical if not very similar requirements.

>tfw in doctoral program bioengineering
>straight D's and two F's in high school.

Doing well in high school is for brainlets. You'll never succeed in life if you stay in the lanes you are taught to stay in.

>doctorate in a STEM field (meaning all A's in HS with low effort)

college is a whole different ballgame -- tons of people i knew in my math/science classes (CSfag here) in college were top of their game in HS, no effort whatsoever, got all 5s on their AP tests, etc. and got BTFO by their college classes

you need both great work ethic AND insane talent to get to the level of getting a doctorate in STEM, which requires being able to get 3.5-4.0 in your bachelors classes

Put yourself out there senpai. If you're interested in a certain field/type of research, find a lab/professor that is doing that research. Shoot them an e-mail saying ayyy men, u got some cool shit going on lemme get in on dat shit nomsayn? You'll get ignored, rejected, or accepted. Then, apply for a program with that professor after working with them for some time. Then, applying is simply a formality.

>God tier
>lawyer

lawyers unironically have to be downgraded to good tier or meh tier

lawyers
-have extremely mediocre job growth
-get BTFO by their debts from law school
-absolute shit tier employment prospects with shit salary relative to debt unless you go to a top 14 law school (harvard/columbia/yale tier shit)
-only way to not get BTFO by debts is to get a job at prestigious law firm, which is near-impossible unless you go to a top-14 law school
-even when you do get into these law firms, you get cucked by ungodly work schedules, 80-hour work weeks
-pretty much a useless degree for anything else

law sucks more than people think
