not necessarily. A Carrington-type event can occur, frying unshielded electronics and damaging infrastructure without causing direct fatalities.

Fiat money would be fried too. I am a nocoiner and come here only for the laughs, but even I admit that normal money is just digital points handed out by the government. SOME of it is represented by actual printed money, gold or other commodities. One solar flare to fry humanity's servers, no more USD. Even people who have paper money stored up wouldn't benefit since the USD would collapse.

A solar flare would fry everything and neither gold or Bitcoins can save you at that point.

What you think that every single copy of the ledger would be erased? Lol.

I keep my Nano Ledger S in an EMP proof box. This was one of my biggest fears. I forked up the $600 and bought a safe with that feature.

Considering the world is a sphere, servers on the other side of the flare would be fine. Actually USD is more susceptible to issues from a solar flare since the banks probably don't have there servers as widely dispersed, though I image they each have one in a safe room or something, at least the big banks.
