James Wall and Sophie Gilder from CBA on the Sydney trading floor. "This is the first step towards how capital markets will look in the future," said Gilder of the blockchain bond. Peter Braig

by James Eyers
The World Bank has turned to Commonwealth Bank of Australia to issue a bond using blockchain technology, in a deal that suggests a more transparent and lower-cost process for debt capital issuance is just around the corner.

Reflecting its antipodean roots, the innovative security is being referred to as a 'bond-i' (blockchain offered new debt instrument). The World Bank says it is a world first for using blockchain to create, allocate, transfer ownership and manage a live bond deal.

From an interview with Gilder.

Can you tell us about the project? What opportunities do you see for collaboration between government and the financial sector for the usage of Blockchain?

QTC was willing to be an innovation catalyst by collaborating with us on the development of a bond issuance platform powered by Blockchain. We built a platform that enables issuers looking to raise capital to design a bond issue through drop down menus and create a smart contract that reflects these by parameters on the Blockchain, at the push of a button. Once created, that bond can be offered for sale direct to bond investors on the Blockchain platform, who submit their bids direct to the shared Blockchain ledger. Allocation, pricing and settlement can be done instantaneously through a single seamless transaction which transfers payment and title to the bond in the same transaction. The coupons on the bond are then automatically paid by the smart contract through to maturity.

In case you really are this stupid...

The most common types of bonds include municipal bonds and corporate bonds. The bond is a debt security, under which the issuer owes the holders a debt and (depending on the terms of the bond) is obliged to pay them interest (the coupon) or to repay the principal at a later date, termed the maturity date.

Oh fuck this was also accomplished with Microsoft Azure:

Matt Kerner, general manager, Azure Blockchain Engineering at Microsoft, said: “Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and organization on the planet aligns well with the noble work of World Bank.”

The law firm of King & Wood Mallesons acted as deal counsel on the bond issue and advised on the legal architecture for its implementation.

The eventual 1K and 2.5K price predictions are both too high. I understand where you are coming from but you don't need to stake more than the contract itself is worth. A mere fraction of the contract's net worth would be sufficient, since the network utilizes a commit/reveal function and you don't know how many/which nodes are providing data. Therefore you are already disincentived from risking your reputation and the subsequent opportunities for future earnings it will bring. Naked value for the token itself just isn't as powerful as this incentive, even with a percentage of the supply locked up for contracts.

>Commonwealth Bank completes new blockchain-enabled global trade experiment
>CBA is using the Ethereum blockchain in this project. Ethereum currently has the most development activity globally, and offers the functionality we require. However other blockchains are developing rapidly and CBA remains open to other options in the future.
>In 2016, CBA and US-based bank Wells Fargo successfully completed the first global trade transaction via blockchain between two independent banks. This latest project built upon that work, examining how CBA could help its partners optimise working capital and asset utilisation, explore trade finance concepts and potential for in-app payment and invoicing.

WW3 is basically over not wanting to use the worthless dollar anymore because the Jews are destroying it through inflation.

If the dollar was backed by gold then things would be fine worldwide.... but that's not how Jews do things.

You are literally fleeing to crypto because you can't "make it" anymore because real money (gold) doesn't back the dollar anymore

I don't think CBA is actually working with CL (it would be very surprising, but the news that banks are pushing for more and more blockchain trade is good for us as a whole), but we knew Accord was talking about CL before they made an official announcement, same now with OpenLaw, hasn't been (cannot be) announced yet but it's been predicted due to connections and has basically confirmed yesterday when they liked a comment about the theory on twitter.

There's another aspect as well, though, and that's the fact that Chainlink is just one tool of a general smart contract "product". So if a company announces that they're using smart contracts it's not really necessary for them to list every company that is providing a tool or accessory to that.
It would be like Uber saying "We are adding flights to Uber, and we will be using Intel as the inflight hardware for those flights". There's no need to really advertise the company behind every component of the product you're using, and there's not need for any particular company to single out the fact that their smart contract solution will use decentralised oracles.

why are you calling people sweetie? do you think this is some sort of patronizing power word? did someone call you a sweetie online once and it made you feel small and worthless and so now you're doing it to others in hopes that it will make them feel the same way that it made you feel? the fact that you used the word twice in a sentence of about thirty words makes you seem like an impressionable little kid who's trying his best to pick up on the latest trends and buzzwords that the peers he looks up to are using, but who doesn't have the tact to use them tastefully, and so just looks like a the little tag-along that he really is - much to everyone else's annoyane. i've actually seen people use the word sweetie to great effect on this board many times. i will admit that when used with even a shred of delicacy, it carries a wallop. you, however, have managed to not only make yourself to be a complete fucking muppet in it's flagrant misuse, but you have now ruined all future potential uses of the word for the purpose of patronization. well fucking done you insolent twat. how you managed to so gracefully make yourself out to be such a fucking useless pimple, i will never begin to understand. but you've simply amazed me and everyone reading this at how you can monumentally fail so extravagantly at such a gimme of a task. fuck you and your mother you pathetic measle. the thought of you makes me ashamed.

oh, and by the way. as per your post. you're a fucking moron. you know nothing about what accord considers Smartcontract. partner, associate, fuck buddy, these are all just <h2> tags on a website. they could have labeled it "bros and buddies", would that make a difference for you? for anyone? it's a fucking div on a fucking website you fucking retard. eat shit with your pathetic opinion. you know nothing and you are nothing. leave this space immediately, sweetie.

Go and look at what AXA talked about with their Fizzy articles. They specifically talked about how they created their own oracle and the decision process. These companies get PR points for using blockchain and looking forward thinking and wouldn't pass the chance to brag about stuff like that.

>there are three types of entities in Ekiden: Clients, compute nodesand consensus nodes

>it relies on efficient proofs of publication that prove to a contract TEE that an item has been stored in the blockchain.

LINK is intrinsically worthless. Node operators can be paid in existing cryptocurrencies. Just look at the testnet right now, it only accepts ETH instead of LINK lmao. It means that ETH can easily be substituted for it, that is, if someone wants to fork the token to accept ETH (an established cryptocurrency instead of some fucking ERC20 token made with a two-man team), LINK is basically useless. That is besides the fact that everything LINK aims to do can be easily done by cryptographically signing the data from the API source.
