So, let me explain to /biz/, which is mostly oblivious to the world as a whole, why crypto is going to explode over the next ten years, and why Latin America is going to spearhead the whole thing.

1-) Crypto is already popular in Venezuela and it will only get stronger as refugees try to send resources to their families stuck with Maduro.
https://qz.com/1300832/bitcoin-trading-in-venezuela-is-skyrocketing-amid-14000-inflation/

2-) There is not only a cryptocurrency movement gaining more strength each month, but also an explosion of libertarian ideas.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2018/05/30/more-people-opening-crypto-trading-accounts-in-brazil-than-traditional-securities/#1d1bd2817e21
https://panampost.com/editor/2017/01/24/brazils-growing-libertarian-movement-could-be-just-what-the-country-needs/

3-) The same things happening in Brazil are happening in Argentina, even if the whole thing is a bit weaker. However, as their economy gets shittier, adoption should increase.
https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-day-proves-argentinas-crypto-love-alive-well/

4-) Buda.com, a Chilean exchange, is expanding all over South America. Foxbit, a Brazilian exchange, has plans to do the same.

5-) Central America is already thriving with crypto-startups, you can get citizenship in some countries using nothing but BTC, tax havens should be more crypto-friendly as to attract more capital.

6-) Argentina is already bankrupt and its people have no faith in their currency, the same is about to happen in Brazil (2-3 years), there is a strong movement in Chile to oppose the rise of socialism in their government, Venezuela and Colombia are already dealing with what is basically a civil war and the middle-class is seeking refuge in crypto. As the problems in those countries, that are the most influential in the region (Mexico is irrelevant, being totally controlled by the USA), only increase, their currencies will plummet and adoption will skyrocket.

Sure, you can profit when you are doing business in another country and their currency is cheap, but just by doing business there and using their moneys you will be increasing its value.
Likewise, if their currency gets even cheaper and your prices are based on a more expensive coin, the locals will not be able to buy your product. If all that you do is make shit there and export somewhere else, expect competition as everyone in the globe tries to take advantage of the situation, ironically changing it for the better.

Im from Argentina, crypto isnt mainstream nor as talked about as op implies. Anyone mining or buying is doing so to sell higher to another person for dollars. Our currency is in high inflation mode since the 2000s and is accelerating in the last years.
Anyone with more than a few brain cells knows you cant have a serious and complex economy with the current state of crypto, so thats not a solution. The solution is to stop creating money as debt, stop interest on money, hang the bankers and corrupt politicians and unpeg from the dollar as much as possible, not fucking crypto lol

Now, let me briefly explain the role of those five countries for the future:

1-) Brazil has been the hegemonic power through most of Latin America, second only to the USA. It could also see a huge population boom (85% of China's territory, less than 20% of the population). If crypto takes hold there, it should easily take root in all Mercosul.
2-) Argentina is like Brazil, only smaller and less influential.
3-) Chile has been the postcard of Latin America and what it could achieve if it embraced a free market, it is also taking a lot of refugees fleeing far-left politics.
4-) Venezuela is currently a proof of the power of crypto when directly dealing with a dictatorship.
5-) I predict that by 2030 cocaine will be fully legalized not only in the E.U. but also through most of the USA, making Columbia, and its massive cocaine production, a magnet for $/€ - and if they are operating under crypto, most of the western world will have to directly or indirectly purchase it to trade with them.
