Memes aside, should crypto holders even care at all about the value in FIAT at this point?
If these coins are meant to revolutionise the money system why do people care so much about their price in old centralised money and so little about their adoption?

cryptos are an asset for _investors_, most people on this board are investors. they care about the worth of their investments. once crypto adoption is wider they'll care more about how much X (insert something materialistic) their crypto holdings are worth, but as long as most things are priced in $, they'll care how much $ their crypto holdings are worth.

High IQ should make you immune to buy crypto post 1000$ bitcoin bubble. However this is a nice and easy short until bag holders give up.

Because crypto is unusable. Nobody wants money that goes up and down constantily. Nobody wants to wait 15 minuets to get paid. Nobody wants money that can be hacked. Money is tangible. You put it in your pocket and spend it. You can’t do that with crypto. Cryptocurrency is a popped bubble.

Doesn't adoption and $ value cancel each other then? If Jimmy buys in in $ and measures his ROI in $, but because of market fluctuations he will panic sell, who is going to offer to sell his house in crypto? It seems to me like wide adoption will not happen without stability of value.

This.

True believers already do exactly what you said. Grow the BTC wallet, ignore fiat. Most people still have their own fiat income.

stability of value won't happen until crypto has reached its final share of world's wealth. e.g. for gold it's about 0.5-1%, and that's pretty stable. crypto is like 0.01% right now, which is extremely unlikely to be the long-term share

that said, crypto isn't just 'money' at all. so adoption can happen without price stability, but yeah it won't be smooth to use as money for a long time (a lot more rough than FIAT), but still more and more convenient in more and more scenarios

it's already better than FIAT for some form of payments, and it will only increase

Okay, so you're not going to convert your crypto into actual money.

It should only be people who can't survive without a cash out in the near future who sperg about that.

I see where you're coming from. But, for the sake of argument: If there was widespread adoption and people used crypto instead of cash, then the value wouldn't fluctuate. Take for example the Canadian dollar. The Canadian dollar fluctuates all the time from the pov of americans, because americans compare CAD to USD. Same deal with crypto.

Currency needs to be tangible. If the scanner is not working you can't buy the thing. If your phone is out of battery you can't buy the thing. Currency has no batteries because it's a thing you trade for other things. Get it?

Because my landlord Mr. Shecklestein still wants payments in USD, and I told my old mamager Ms. Goldberg to go fuck herself during the December hype, and I don't want to have to be a wagie.

This really doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Currency is a system of money in general use in a particular country (definition).

Nothing about batteries in there.
