If you donate 120k to a presidential candidate you MIGHT be able to buy an Ambassadorship to some small country if they win. Then you can get connections and a steady salary through that.

OH well then in that case you're about 1/10th of the way there only if you live a frugal lifestyle.
By "elite" I assumed you mean you want a Dan Bilzerian lifestyle. Never gonna happen, you need a good 50 mil to have enough passive income generated to live that type of life.

If you want to simply not work and can keep your cost of living at around 50k USD per year, all you need is about 1.5-2 million dollars in dividend generating stocks and bonds

I think i've read something about that before, that during the years of Obama administration several appointed ambassadors were just former campaign contributors/organizers. Literally random people without any diplomatic experience at all have been appointed as US ambassadors. Even if they were ambassadors in small countries it still fucking sucks. Not sure if that story was 100% correct though, maybe it was due to more complicated factors than just corruption or nepotism.

I am saving more than half of it. My main expenses are taxes, basic food and basic accommodation (usually you get these salaries in high CoL areas). I rarely go out and traveled once in three years. I bought a used up computer for 50$ 4 years ago that I still use today. My smartphone is first price Samsung 100$ from 4 years ago. Clothes budget is like 150$ a year lol.

Still needs 10+ years to get to a million. Not going to make it guys.

it helps to have high salary, and then barely spend any of it. i cut my own hair, i only eat the protein on sale, i shop at savers (like a goodwill), bring my lunch to work, live in a small condo instead of a big house, invest everything you can, etc. it adds up after a while.
