markets move on supply and demand. the reason why the price pumps up fast is because a lot of people read good news and then buy in. increased demand -> price pump.
link will likely not see any huge massive pumps because they aren't trying to market their product to the masses. They want to get businesses and developers to use their oracle.
as more businesses and developers start using link, there will naturally be more demand for link, and the price will go up, slowly over time.
