Not at all. The short squeeze would push it to 900+. If it goes up to 400-500, then more and more shorts have to cover and “buy” the stock they short sold... at a massive loss... so it pushes the price up crazy high. I mean, sure someone has to buy at $420. The problem is you take away all long-term short ability with this. Sure the person buying at $420 gains the risk though and loses if it goes down.

Yet, you basically have destroyed the ability of shorts/puts to be long-term holders. It's still zero sum but it takes all agency out of puts/shorts. They are slaves in this case and forced to get out. All the privatization does is basically force a cover. The longs get a choice.

SEC will use fraud as it is easier to prove than price manipulation. You can't just air "opinions" about "maybe" a public company getting a buy-out as the CEO. If he can't confirm a legit offer for $420, then they'll roast him on the $850m paper gain he got today (not to mention that he's been buying tsla shares off a $500m personal credit line).

why? between the yammering in the last earnings call, calling that guy in thailand a pedo, and firing all his executives (flattening management)... I think the dude's blown a fuse. This might be "self-sabotage" so he can say "they took my company," instead of facing the reality that he over-leveraged his company (starting with the solar city buy-out).

>> No.10597728

to sum up the privatization

Are you short/put? Lose all money
Are you long calls OTM for 2020? lose all money
Are you a long? you get a choice of selling for $420 or keeping it.

holy fuck. It's serving up a steak dinner for longs and a shit sandwich for rest of market.

but even if you're short a shit company like HMNY all it takes is some retard who previously wanst invested to go 'oh I like movie pass, think I'll donate my billions to this thing' and its all over
when you're long, it takes someone who previously did believe in the company to suddenly start not believe and sell. there are more people not invested in a company than invested. so its easier to get people to switch to long.
even if you're right when shorting and the company tanks to zero, trading can halt or shares might become unavailable and you might not be able to cover and still lose

It's basically buy+hold forever, but heres the buy part:
>Step 1: Identify target company:
>Easiest option: Identify company being shilled against actively. The most the shills/controversey/outrage, the better. I bought my TSLA right after elon shit on wells fargo during a conference call. You need to be prepared to some extent to capitalize on these sorts of events. Also, always be looking out for that underdog (AMD).
>Step 2: Once you have a target, check out the competition and whatever edge they might have. What is their TAM (total addressable market). What percentage of that do they own today? What percentage do you think it could go to in the future based off innovation/competitive edge? Just apply that ratio to the EPS & SP to get a feel for where you think it can go.
>Step 3: Buy repeatedly and often. Ignore SP, just whenever you get a chance grab 10 shares or whatever you can spare. If you have a lump sum, throw it in all at once i suppose, or set aside 10-15% for an adverse event (elon sperging out).
>Step 4: You are now here. This is where my plan ends, and hope begins.
I plan to hold AMD/IRDM well into 2019, both with AMD firing 7nm dildos up intc's ass, and IRDM flipping on a billion dollar truly-global communications network (with amazing rideshare missions like Aireon).
I also maintain a 50/50 value/growth split, so i can cover my margin fees with REITs and such.

and communism
think about it. SA is fucking irrelevant in almost every respect. geographically, economically, politically. they follow the USSR/PRC playbook, but theyre WAY fucking dumber. while the ruskies and the chinks were/are smart enough to actually keep their shit straight enough to hold up to moderate scrutiny, the ANC doesnt even bother w it. and why would they? nearly no one in the entire world has any reason to put them under the microscope, other than the foreign parties who were invited in to strip the land of its resources. and why would THEY give a fuck? its not like SA collapsing will change anything in terms of mining operations. they already keep mercs around any serious operation in that continent 24/7 anyways. literally nothing new

not to mention, w all the money and effort that the UN and various NGOs make-erm-uh-i-mean put into that country, theres quite a few powerful parties that benefit GREATLY from south africa being/staying an easily manipulated banana republic. that yield is a fucking trap/bribe, just like literally everything else in that place

i mean do your own research, but imo, the only reason it hasnt already blown up is because the chinese dont want it to. they know what happens to the coloreds (khoi/san, indians, chinese, mulattos) when the bushwar gets going

The Saudis were already in. There is no reason it should have traded higher on that news. It was on its way back down when Musk tweeted about the LBO.

"Cash out"? He owns 20% of the float. If he cashes out it goes to 0. Why are people long this stock so fucking dumb? The shorts do all the research, find all the problems, and check all the facts. The longs just throw money at Elon Musk because they think he is a hero and collectively decide to vote the shorts out of their money regardless of what reality is. Now, not because the company succeeded, not because a buyout is happening, but because the biggest conman of the century says it is happening, the stock soars while cars sit not delivered on time in dusty lots. If longs win on this in this way, it will be the greatest injustice to happen in the market ever.

come on now use your brains you fucking dummies. It's so much easier to get funding through a publicly traded company rather than a private one, especially something like TSLA.

Elon would take it private just for personal reasons. The shorts got to him bad and he has a lot of spite. I think he also thinks he can focus more longterm if private instead of having to worry about immediate profits. Think he wants to do EU and China factories without worrying about public scrutiny.
