Playing the auction house will give you an idea of how supply and demand works(based on server population and hypewaves). You can trade materials which are gathered by other players (basically virtual commodities). After learning the basics you can try pumping and dumping items and see how the competitors react. You could also invest in collectors/super rare items and hold for years. You could set bots for sniping undervalued auctions(based on all servers market price% API) You could always sell your gold to a site of you decide to quit
