expensive laptop lost almost 50% of its value in one year
>Made an one-year insurance for water spillage, theft, etc (it's based on the invoice price)
>Made it last month, almost at the limit time where insurance companies stop accepting making insurances for laptops
>conclusion: If I actually get robbed I get paid 100% more than I would get by simply selling it (actually even more since its looks are in bad shape)

Hmmmm

Very little difference between making a false insurance claim and just stealing a laptop from a store.

B-But insurance companies are evil, stores are ok

>> No.10561361

So you can basically say you got robbed, but keep the laptop and get a new laptop as well/money? If so then do it.

If you're claiming theft, a lot of times stores are gonna wanna see a police report before accepting the claim.
Damage is easy because you just give the broken laptop back.
If you don't have anything to hand over, they want that report from the fuzz.

Yes, I would need to lie to the police to.

Which is fine.

Most, if not all cities now have online submission of crime and police reports.

They don't investigate. You can simply put in the notes this is being used for insurance purposes, etc. and it's fine.

I've done it twice, (not for fraud) to exit a lease for failure to secure property (all my shit kept getting stolen from Amazon) and someone broke into my car.

Told the landlord fuck off, didn't have security deposit - left last week of the month.

He replied angry, but fuck him. There was two months left anyway and he wanted to charge me $500 more next renewal.

>City of Chicago doesn't follow up.
>Nor Does New York City

Now, don't do something stupid like post it on instagram or internet with serial numbers.

Best of all, since it's an 3rd party insurance program, they don't have official ties with the manufacturer, and after a year, most warranties with laptops are lapsed. Excluding applecare.

Hm, I think this could be done with multiple laptops at a time. Say you buy 100 laptops and do this, would this work?
