if you're just starting in the business, from personal experience I recommend kneepads with a 600 Denier polyester fabric. These will usually run you around $20-50 for a pair. This will ensure you can service a large number of customers per day and the kneepads will be able to withstand the daily wear and tear associated with the occupation.

If you are particularly good, you can recoup your initial investment in the first 1-2 days of work. If you are looking to step your game up then you should later upgrade to a model with a 1000 D fabric. I also recommend investing in a good brand of Chapstick.
