you have to go through it to understand. I have, and the reason you don't take action is for the thought that "it will recover soon!" so you continue waiting. I think this sort of thought is especially amplified the more you lose - so if you missed selling when you were 10% down, 20% down, then you're 50% down feeling more hopeless, then 80% down, selling at such a huge loss just isn't a consideration anymore.

Of course you're right - should sell when you first start to drop (stop loss) but lots of new people were in this space over the last year or two who hadn't formulated any sort of exit strategy or put any thought into it at all
