Why do you want to be rich?

The reason why I intend to become rich is that I am fed up with people often doing stupid nonsense and disregarding my opinion, when I try to point out their illogical actions/ways of thinking etc.

Unfortunately we live in a society where money is everything, maybe at least then I will be properly listened to.

I also said to myself, that if I think better than others, I should focus all that energy on improving my financial status, then they will listen more carefully.

Unfortunately money is everything in this world and that is the only way.

Money never was a priority to me, but I am left with no other choice.

I am not sure if I expressed myself well enough, but I hope some of you will just understand.

I want to be rich because I want to never have to work for someone else ever again. I'd really just like to spend the rest of my life gardening and working on open source projects.

Also this is basically what happened to Thales. The people wondered why he lived like a pauper if he was supposed to be so smart. So he bought every olive press in the region during a time that they were discounted, and then the next year when there was a giant harvest, everyone had to pay him to use his press, and so he became rich. And then he went back to being a philosopher, but nobody questioned him anymore

I am not a super materialistic man so it isn't about things. But it would be nice to not have to worry about money so much, it would be nice to just enjoy the summer days purely, move to the climates I want when I want, pursue hobbies I want to when I want. I fucking hate the idea of just specializing in one specific field to be competitive and make money. It is boring as hell. I'm fairly happy with my life right now but it would be nice to not have to give into office politics just to make a few extra dollars. I fucking can't stand those little pussy yesmen, ass kissers, dishonest backstabbers.

Imagine just having a nice home next to some beach, nice year round, sunny, rainy at night.. Not having to worry about a damn thing. Spend your days just doing whatever you want. Would be nice!

I have so many different interests, aspirations and ventures I'd like to work on, it's difficult to allocate as much time to them as I'd like while working regularly in my field (TV & Film Production) to pay rent, bills, etc., especially with right now being the busiest season of the year. I'm making good money but literally living out of different hotels for the next 1-2 wks shooting a travel special. Becoming "rich" (completely financially independent) will allow me to take as much (or as little) outside work as I want, and allow me to reallocate newly freed up time to my other ventures and interests. I'll still continue to work in my field, but I'll increase my rate to work less days but for primo day rates, and focus on primarily getting clients and producing stuff with my friends ourselves, among other things. I'm working on a few of these other ventures in my limited spare time right now, but it's far from ideal.

I want to be rich so that I can let go of the stress of not having money, to provide for my loved ones, and so that I have anything that money can provide at my disposal. I've been born into a poor family that let themselves stay that way and since they're shitty people being rich and rubbing it in their faces would be nice. The list goes on.

i want to travel to see things, monuments, culture, etc. but i don't really like people in general, i'm introverted, the idea of showing up at someones house to sleep on their couch creeps me out.

I feel like the real extroverted "hippy" types that don't give a fuck and can slum it have the easiest time traveling on a tiny budget but I don't find that strategy very appealing

Not to stop working but to be able to stop working. So if I feel unsatisfied with what I am currently doing I have the ability to stop. Even if I want to do something else I will be able to stop working and learn that thing. I think once I finished my cs degree and link has mooned I won’t start working for an company but do hires consultant work. This means more free time and I will be able to choose projects I like. Even if it’s only making me half of what a 9-5 job makes it’s no problem

>> No.10442724

This is already possible if you're not living somewhere that's retarded expensive to live.

I only made ~$65k/year but I live in a smallish town and my cost of living if I keep everything bare bones (so not including much partying or travel or dating or any of that shit) is like $18-20k/year

So basically I manage to pay all my bills each year, and save another years worth of living expenses or damn near close to it. After 5 or 6 years of work I had enough in the bank to take ~5 years off if I wanted (only took 1.5 years off) and had no stress because I knew I could easily find a job again.

Having gaps in your work history isn't nearly as big of a problem as some people will tell you, at least not with most careers. I actually just lied when I went back to work and said that I tried to start my own business, but the inconsistency in income motivated me to seek employment and the employers I told that to actually saw it as a good thing like "good try kid" and I was back to making $65-70k/year

just don't live check to check, save a lot, avoid bad habits, don't drink, smoke or do drugs, don't spend much money on women, don't waste money on shit you don't need. Live cheap and clean, find small pleasures in life, it'll allow you a lot more freedom in exchange.
