The bitbay peg can protect your coins value by preventing it to drop below 100% value by lowering the supply dynamically but it doesn't create money out of thin air.
Like for instance, imagine there is a sell pressure that would cause a 5% price decrease, then the peg could rarify the supply by 5%, hence preventing the price to actually drop by 5% through the law of supply & demand. What the Bitbay peg actually aims to do is to protect against short term volatility and manipulation, while still allowing a long term free market.
