I don't understand why china wants to get rid of a great source of income.
They could just nationalize it and keep the bitcoin for themselves. If anything at least they can have some control over it.

Their master plan is probably to confiscate all mining equipment and centralize the mining into the hands of the Communist regime. Then legalize Crypto's once they feel satisfied with their mining power. Ruthless, but smart move nonetheless.
