How close are we to mainnet?

Why are you all even excited for mainnet? Are you developing smart contracts that need off chain data?

Even the announcement of a slough of partnerships would do very little for the price in this market...

It's exciting because it means chainlink is proving it's concept and progressing.

Their slack said marketing will start after the mn, plus we may know more about parterships etc.

If all the massive partberships fortold in this market came true tonight would our singularity be ruined?

Literally nothing would happen if mainnet came out tonight and Link were partnered with every rumored company.

If SWIFT confirmed the partnership tonight it wouldn't even go 2x before dumping back the next day.

This meme market is all about cycles and timing the news, nobody would care right now.

Well yeah, cause as soon as the price started to go up they'd turn the price control bots on.

So, I've been thinking about this. Mainnet and partnerships are probably not the catalyst that will send link higher. What will send link higher is people actually using the network. Otherwise it literally doesn't matter. What I suspect is going to be the case is, one of link's partners will announce a product or service that uses link, and is ready to go, like, say an actual smart contract that offers credit default swaps but at a cheaper price than any of the current alternatives. This also needs to be done together with proof that link can provide the data required, i.e. nodes exist that reliably provide that data.

Once the use is there, the price will go up. So, settle down about main net, if it launches and nobody's using it the whole project could tank.
