holy fuck I overheard a job interview at a restaurant today and there were TWO fucking managers there (from a diff restaurant down the street) interviewing this guy for a shitty cashier job for over a fucking HOUR. one of the managers even had their laptop out.

>"the position is $8.25/hr"
>"are there tips?"
>"there's no tip jar. but there is...potential for tips, it's a great opportunity"

how fucking insane is employment for young people

I don't know man, this shit will get worse and worse as automation progresses. Initially there will be a phase(which I think we're basically almost in already) where people think they can outwork the machines. Millions will get killed by complete burnout/suicide and maybe at some point when we're at nearly 100% automation of all jobs people MIGHT wake up and realize that this forced wagecuck job meme is fucking retarded as fuck and we'll actually make some progress again as a society. Millennials are propably in the shittiest spot imagineable for this. Most of us will propably die by suicide.

True story:
My first and only job interview 12 years ago for a stupid job at Best Buy (which I didn't really want), I didn't get a call back for. Instead, I got a job at some other stupid place and my teacher had a good connection with that place, so they hired me without interview, if I remember correctly. Well, fast forward a few weeks later, I was at the right place and right time to buy a website in a huge online niche that was currently blowing up. Pair that with an advertisement company which was trying to compete with Google, which I also was lucky to discover early AND was lucky enough to be accepted to their Beta program. Fast forward to the end of the school year. I was finally kicked off the program because my traffic was all 15 year olds who used MySpace. But I had already received over $200,000 in checks from them. They owed me an additional $65k, but reduced it to $50k. So over $250,000' Yes, all while having an $8/hr job in the meantime and still being in high school. But one critical piece of this story is missing that you should know. I'm the Lord's servant and I pray every day. Back to my point. My point is after all was said and done, I remember thinking back to that stupid Best Buy interview. I still think back to it actually, and I just laugh. Fuck that shit. Fuck Best Buy. Fuck job interviews. Fuck minimum wage. Fuck a lot of things. Like you for example. Fuck you.

He asked me how much an hour I wanted, I said 20 an hour but negotiable (while his ad said up to 22) and he said “the job pays $17.” Couldn’t budge it an inch. Kek this thread made me realize how bad it sucks to be poor in he US. The lowest workers at McDonald’s make $20/hour + like 4 weeks of paid vacation/year and pension in my country.

Automation lowers prices proportionally to the decrease in required labor. It's why food is only a fraction of people's budget instead of half your income like it would be without modern farm equipment. Hundreds of thousands of restaurants employing millions of people are allowed to exist because of that food price reduction. Restaurant jobs are much nicer than manual farm labor. This same economic mechanism applies to all goods and labor. Decreased pricing from automation with lead to new industries that employ more people, not less, all while increasing the physical standard of living.

Disposable income is obviously high in the US because the US has a pretty low average tax rate compared to most other rich countries. Pre tax income would be a much better measssure. That being said, even the median disposable income is lower in a few countries and not all of them are tax havens, e.g. Denmark, Switzerland, Australia and Norway. On top of that these countries have a lot more welfare than the US. Norway and Denmark have free education, free health care, 1k/month in financial aid for students, large government funded pensions etc. If you only look at the the poorest 20% the US is worse off than most other rich countries. That’s why I said it kinda sucks to be ->poor<- in the US. The US is one of the worst rich countries to minimum wage cuck in. The US is great if you’re upper middle class/ upper class.

Not everything can be automated. Machines are still not dexterous or intelligent enough for many tasks and we are no where near the point where menial laborers can easily be replaced with robots.

Elon Musk fell for the automation meme in manufacturing Teslas, but there was no improvement in manufacturing efficiency.

Workers do not have the money to spend
So state established the caste of neets and gibs receivers
All at the cost of borrowing money and increasing the tax burden on upper middle class.

Kind of an apples-to-oranges comparison though. Financially speaking, white Americans are on a whole different level from blacks (10% of the population) and even Hispanics (another 25% weighing down the stats).

The number of high-paying jobs is constantly shrinking due to automation and these are not replaced.
The population is gradually increasing.
As a result there is a massive underemployment, despite the fact that unemployment seems to be at its lowest. Soon we will end up with college graduates doing 5 interviews to get loo cleaner's position.

This situation only gets worse and is scary, because we might see social unrest, revolutions, another world war

Cars and computers were once only affordable to the rich. Mass production and competition led to where now anyone can own them.
Stop creating hindrances for the free market, and we will avoid the depression - if it occurs it will entirely due to your socialist economically illiterate bullshit.

Not everyone is like this, but this is what happens to a lot of people so far as I've seen.

I think most people are just terrible with money. Different story I do have a friend that makes some odd 60k-80k a year waiting tables who is always fucking broke. I mean, she can walk in on a Friday night and pull $300 in cash plus $11.00 min (in CA they don't have a tax credit for tips) for between 6-9 hours of work.
Constantly mismanages because she has no budget and assumes she'll make big a lot of cash tips the week before rent, says her bank statements are mostly to wholefoods, go figure.
