You have 2 options:
Official Skyminer cost 1 btc and you will receive:
>Skywire miner
>An amount of Skycoin equal to 1 btc minus the hardware cost - estimated to be around 800 $, and in addition will receive 450 skycoin
Or
You can make a DIY Skyminer for around 500-600 $

Yes raspberry pi are fine.
You get paid per node, up to a maximum of 8.
DIY get maximum 48 SKY per month, Official get 96 SKY.

For those with a DIY miner, you get 6 SKY per node (Max 8 nodes). So with your single raspberry pi you could get 6 SKY per month. Which is roughly $6k end of year

Also, why the difference between official and DIY? is it possible to improve DIY to get as many SKY as the offcial?
Sadly I can't afford spending a bitcoin .

You can do on raspberry pi or orange pi, orange pi is much more recommended
For DIY is 6$ per node, you have an 8 node DIY Miner and get 48$ reward
