Looks like they’re copying and pasting LINK’s code. Even though it is open source, these idiots don't have a chance in hell of competing with Chainlink. They have been screwing up all year.

DAPP Dev here. We've internally had debates on the oracalize and its usefulness for our application and the reliability of their RNG approach.

Somehow even we failed to spot the appropriation of Chainlink's open source code. I'll share this with my team. I imagine should the news get out more applications will jettison oracalize.

Thanks OP

I certainly don't condone the act of violence, no matter how fragrant the breech. However, this news puts pressure on Oracalize and their visible hypocrisy against the Chainlink solution.

My personal opinion, as I cannot speak for my team, but now it makes sense for the out of nowhere attacks on Chainlink from Oracalize.

Now that it's clear they're using some of Chainlink's code (to what extent is not clear yet), but this will irreparably damage their reputation.

Should this news spread further we may see the end of Oracalize. Never would I want to piss off /biz/. Suicide for a project.

You're opening up a floodgate.

Only thing you didn't quite consider OP now that I think of it:

The Ethereum backlog is bad enough as it is. Imagine the backlog which could occur if applications are scrambling for a oracle solution and Chainlink has yet to go main-net?

both of them won't win, because both of them are just the same old already known centralized oracles. we need a decentralized oracle for a token to make any sense. a centralized oracle like chainlink makes the token a pointless middleman act that only offers the illusion of decententralization

do you not know how chainlink works? it's a centralized oracle with a middleman decentralized network, but that network only proetcts the most popular oracles, anything smaller gets more and more insecure until it's too risky to use.

there's absolutely nothing decentralized about the oracle itself.

4.2 Distributing oracles
Just as sources can be distributed, our ideal service ORACLE itself can be approximated
as a distributed system. This is to say that instead of a single monolithic oracle
node O, we can instead have a collection of n different oracle nodes fO1;O2; : : : ;Ong.
Each oracle Oi contacts its own distinct set of data sources which may or may not
11
Figure 3: Requests are distributed across both oracles and data sources. This figure shows
an example of such two-level distribution.
overlap with those of other oracles. Oi aggregates responses from its data sources and
outputs its own distinct answer Ai to a query Req.
Some of these oracles may be faulty. So clearly the set of all oracles’ answers
A1;A2; : : : ;An will need to be aggregated in a trustworthy way into a single, authoritative
value A. But given the possibility of faulty oracles, where and how will this
aggregation happen in ChainLink
