You clearly don't understand how rich people operate(or my post for that matter). Let me break it down for you. Most people inherit wealth, or obtain it through means that don't require finance skills. If you knew what having real money is like, you'd know that soon you get too lazy to make any positions or calls for yourself. Who do you go to when you are thinking of spending money on a spec but don't know the kyc, laws, or regulations surrounding it? The man you hired to manage your wealth. The state of Connecticut is known for it's insane wealth gaps and is the headquarters for many huge insurance and finance firms. Please, do not try to poke holes in something you have no experience with. Enjoy poverty.

Love,

Jeff

No one actually wants to buy $3000 ethereum to have a smart contract that operates a refrigerator or something gay. You are all just looking to dump your bags for some profit. >but 1 mil isn't rich
Yes, 1 mil isn't rich, and I never said it was.
>Boomers got rich from buying homes
Once again, I said they became millionaires, not rich. Of course, interpretation of the word "rich" is subject to opinion. But my definition has never once in this thread been a net worth of a million dollars. Your article references millionaires specifically, not multimillionaires or billionaires. That pool of data is too large, there are a huge amount of millionaires. It can't be compared to my claim of how institutional or family wealth originates, because one million dollars could not support the lifestyle of a rich family or group. Try again

OP, thanks, good thread, didn’t even read the brainlet replies. I’d appreciate your perspective on something:

I’m in the baby steps of starting my own crypto consulting gig (24yo boomer), I’ve been buying on the darkweb since 2013 and i follow everything in crypto with a rabid obsession. So I’m going to hold an absolute beginner’s guide to bitcoin and etc. type presentation at my dad’s house (it’s roughly mansion-tier) to kick off some interest and hook first potential clients.

I’m in a relatively wealthy mid-size MD city and daddy agreed to invite a bunch of his well-off, clueless, boomer friends. I know my shit when it comes to general crypto knowledge, but obviously have no experience myself buying OTC as a lot of these old farts will probably want to consider. How should I go about educating myself on how to advise normies to do this?

Any tips would be appreciated; I know I might be jumping in the deep end a bit since this will be a first for me as far as starting my own business & what not. But I’m committed and know I’m the right kind of autist to do this sort of thing so I want to make sure as best I can that I go about it correctly.

Thank you, its smart to ignore the pissing contest that fucked this thread.

The best way to start is to pretend you know what the fuck you are doing. Thats pretty obvious, but it needs to be said because the charade needs to go both ways. These boomers need to believe you know your shit, and the exchanges need to believe you got the shit.

Mad respect on staying on top of the deep web shit, I jumped out after all that crazy bullshit last year with the markets being shadow run by the feds.

Here's the thing: these guys know nothing about this market. Its like no other. Its money, but also a project. its a business, but also a tool. They will have to take your word on the shit you feed them.

Here is the best way to advise normies on doing heavy crypto: dont. Tell them you know your shit, and for a price they can be on the same boat as you. Guide them, but dont educate. Give them a taste of what it means, but leave the magic to yourself. They wont be afraid of this because its the same trick any fund or finance management will pull on them.

As far as OTC negotiations go, most exchanges will be extremely motivated to do business. You should get a lawyer to review anything long-term, and to draw up the contracts you sell to the boomers. These boomers will dip their feet, and if really can pull a profit, they will eventually go all in. With the right contract, your liability will be virtually null.

Don't be afraid to shop around with OTC, get them to compete on fees, because that is your margin. A few points is the difference between your profit and a waste of your time.

And when actually presenting to these folks, be prepared to address the FUD without making them confused. Be confident with your facts and numbers, dont sell a fantasy, sell something realistic.

last tip: find someone who know their shit too and will partner with you. People will be more confident if there is two guys standing up there instead of one.
