Busted my ass for an engineering degree, and all I have is a piece of paper and a shit job to show for it. Is an MBA the way out?

Apparently, I just need to show proof of "leadership" and "project management", get decent references, and score high enough on some standardized tests. Anyone with some experiences/insight?

Get your PE and get a better paying job.

Also in similar situation but i work for a utility (PE doesnt mean shit), MBA will be good for later on in the career (not immediately) when you want to get promoted to some higher tier position. until then grind up years of exp, or apply to other jobs and get better exp/opportunities

I've been doing contact work for some life science companies, helping manage some of their bigger projects. Got my EIT status, but not sure getting a PE would be of any value at this point.

Also, I don't want to stay in this field/line of work, so I've been looking at an MBA as a way to change into something more worthwhile. Making a ton more cash wouldn't hurt either

I graduated in 2017 and am now making well over 6 figures on steam turbines. Did a little time in the Navy before that.

Maybe you're just a shit engineer?

Spent six years getting an engineering degree but never had any interest in engineering, just did it because people said I'd make bank. But I never took an internship or extracurriculars because I fucking hated the work and hated my colleagues, so I was unhirable in the field after graduating too. Yes I had my EIT.

'Lucked out' securing a federal job in an unrelated field and now I basically push paper and fix basic math errors 8 hours a day for $70k/yr. Pay tops out at 90k in a few years. Probably gonna stay here until I make it in crypto or kms. I don't have the energy to compete in private industry nor the delusion that any work I do for shekels really matters or could possibly be enjoyable. And everyone else in this office is a dead-inside drone like me so at least there's no chad and stacy to deal with while I push numbers around on spreadsheets.

Wow, you failed at life yet somehow are happy about it.

You're like a NEET / wagecuck hybrid.
