should I be worried yet? My friend told me to call them if it keeps up

>> No.10164852

Is this your first ever job application?
I'd say you'll be lucky to hear back from 1 out of 10 applications you send out. Even after an interview.

Just keep throwing resumes out there. Don't get attatched to the sacred cows.

Don't bother waiting, just apply everywhere online. My first job I got by applying to 12 different stores and only one of them ever called me back

These jobs often leave old postings up. Check the indeed website for other jobs while you wait. I applied to many jobs until one was desperate and hired me the same week. Funny thing is then all of a sudden the other jobs responded to me lol too late. Also if you do get interviewed for AMC mention normie movies as your favorites don’t scare them off with obscure kino.

>> No.10164955

>>10164866
You can call them, sure. No harm in doing so. But don't put all your hope into AMC. It's unlikely they'll give you a yes or a no. Unless your resume was trash. They'll likely string you along until they've finalised the position. And even then they probably won't bother to tell you that you were unsuccessful.

If you want to legit better your chances of getting a lower end job you need to go meet the manager at the place you applied to. Just tell them you wanted to stop in and say hi so you could put a face to your application. Knowing who you're hiring is a big plus, if you make a good impression they'll either have you back for an interview or hire you in a week or two, depends on the staff and guidelines of the company.

>> No.10164993

>>10164973
Oh yeah and follow up with them on the phone in a few days after meeting them in person. Get the manager that you talked to just reiterate how much you'd like the position and how it would be a good fit for you.

If you’re still in school and without connections to get you a specific job then then yeah a retail job like GameStop is reasonable. I think everyone should work retail at one point in their life, it’s a learning experience.

when i was 18 i worked at GNC

Yep.

Just keep sending out resumes.

Call them after three days if you're serious. Then every week afterwards.

But only for first jobs.

For salaried positions, it's dependent on the company. If you're in the arts area, send a box of donuts or something they can eat or enjoy. Sometimes even for more business-related places. It depends.

Good luck, OP.

If they hire you then go for it, but it's more like a sales job than anything. It's the equivalent of being a car salesman for video games. Look up people's experiences online

Tfw I've never not heard back and have never not been offered a job after interview. Only making 41500 at 30. I'm a total failure.

>> No.10165219

You won't hear back. It was a posting they had to make to fulfill some financial regulation. They already have a high level executive groomed from a competitor who is planning on bringing over trade secrets. The posting will just be used to cover their ass in the case the SEC / FBI raids their office.

I can agree with that, my first job was in retail. I would often load heavy furniture into cars for ungrateful people. I'm glad I didn't do fast food though.

How long does it take for HR (Human Resources) to conduct a background/reference check?

I was offered a job by the VICE PRESIDENT of a Big 20 bank and am waiting for them to get back to me. I already went for the medical screening.

I'll be doing loan documentation and processing.

Well anons I applied to like two other theaters nearby because I've already gotten used to the idea. If I don't hear back from the first one by Saturday, I'll call them. Likewise if I don't hear back from the other two by next Wednesday, I'll call them too (and start looking for other jobs).
