I think it still has the potential to truly change the way we live but the hype far exceeded the limitations currently. These things don’t have in one year, five years or even a decade. Honestly though I think bitcoin will be the safety net that catches humanity when the worlds leading powers start to crumble and people start to realize that they aren’t immune to economic strife just because they live in a first world country. Why don't they stay on their own forums and image boards? Why don't they converse in their own language? Why don't they beg from their own countrymen?
It's because they know everything majority inhabited by their vermin-like race is worthless, and they can derive no value from anything communicated to them there.

I see your point but its not so much about catastrophe as it is crippled economies and loss of faith in traditional institutions that I'm referring to. It only takes one large power falling into disarray to have a severe impact globally. Our economies are propped up by another and while in the short term the fall of one may appear to benefit another, in the long term its creating strain elsewhere. I think when the masses start to see their hard work and savings disappearing, due to circumstances that they could never in any universe have controlled, they will look to for alternative place to store their livelihood. Sucks money has become such an integral construct controlling majority of our lives but short of living like lone wolves what other options do we have?

Slightly offtopic but anyone ever watch the vice episode on a group of like 100ppl that attempted to start their own society? Pretty interesting and really shows hard difficult it is to create a self sustaining community where everyone can be free/content.
