10015203 No.10015203 [Reply] [Original]

Why did it suddenly die after forking off ASICs? Monero had the weakest bounce during the April bullrun as well and now is $10 away from hitting double digits.

>> No.10015256

because all the ASIC farms are market dumping their monero as a 'punishment'

I think there's a lot of disappointment over the ledger monero app not being easy to use, it's not officially released yet by ledger either.

plus Jihan is probably dumping some of his holdings.

good time to buy.

It didn't
Xmr devs threatened to tank the whole pow algo if there were asics since day 1. Bitmain made a bad business decision and got burned so they unleashed the FUD

>>10015414
since I know you're a bitmain shill, this answer is not for you but anyone who may think you are right.

https://cryptonote.org/whitepaper.pdf

This is the original CryptoNote whitepaper. Under 2.2 you can see the criticism against bitcoins ASIC-friendly PoW function, and under 5 the ASIC-unfriendly CryptoNight PoW function is being introduced.
This shows that CryptoNote is by design anti-ASIC, and forking away from ASICs was the exact opposite of "changing the entire project direction".

Bear market is happening. Monero isn't hit much harder than other coins. Pic related is ROI from january 1st to today, top10 coins like bcash, iota, ripple, dash and cardano are down more than Monero, LTC also very close.

This one is actually plausible however as bitmain does not want a trend to start of projects changing their algos to make their asics useless , look at the zcash community fighting about it now and having seen what happened to monero, bitmain have a massive weight in markets their asics touch.

this may happen as a trend but it won't change much to decentralize, whoever has more money can just buy rigs when they need it and mine whatever, bitmain would probably dominate anyway and that could actually make them stronger

I could provide you with all the proof in the world, and you still would want more.

ASICs cannot be stopped. New algorithms are being deconstructed and countered faster with each new release.

That's equivalent to opening a long position, you could as well just open it rather than mine

>> No.10018773

>>10018439
If that were true then the diff would be over 60 rather than bouncing between 45 to 50 and when bitmain was mining the diff was over 120 and steadily rising until the hardfork. And if the diff starts rising dramatically the XMR development team will just fork the network again like they did a couple of months ago.
