Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

alright lets start with the media first.

so im sure we can all agree that the media does not tell truths. they are entertainment whos income is dependent on viewers. this means that when faced with a choice between integrity and increased ratings, they will go for the increased ratings every time.

worse than this though, is how deeply intertwined the media is with our political establishment on both sides of the aisle. they are completely bought and paid for (especially since the election). this leads them to abandon any shred of credibility in exchange for political favors and power.

instead of informing people, the media is used for mass manipulation. they do this in a variety of ways. one way is through just general disinfo, being purposefully vague, or simply blacking it out. if people are unaware of the details, atleast in terms of normies, they will usually just give up entirely on understanding it.

for the non-droolers, this doesnt work and sometimes antagonizes them. for these types of people (most traders fall under this category), the media has another set of tools it uses. these are the COINTELPRO techniques that many /pol/acks have seen for years now. they use consensus breaking, controlled opposition, poisoning the well, simple reverse psychology etc... im sure being a channer, you are atleast somewhat familiar.

the way to use the media is simple. when you see high frequencies of these tactics, you know something is up. immediately disregard what they are telling you. instead ponder, "what are they trying to hide (sometimes its entirely unrelated), why is this lie being told to me, and who does this lie benefit?".

thinking in this way will allow you to socratically determine atleast the motive behind the disinfo. if you can ascertain that, then who it benefits is generally pretty simple to find out as well. then its just a matter of betting with or against them.

on to bonds.

this is something i just recently became aware of so bear with me here. "smart money" as they call it, trades bonds. i dont know fucking why because bonds suck, but i guess w/ huge positions its fine and much safer than equities.

generally bonds and equities have similar trends, when one is up, so is the other. however, the smart money is, well smarter, so generally big market moves are anticipated in the high yield corporate bonds (HYG JNK). if you see bonds tanking out of nowhere, be afraid (its not 100% and there are other factors, but yeah). if you see bonds moving in a completely different trend than equities for an extended period of time, then we 2008 again.

another thing to be aware of is an increase in "credit spreads". this is the difference between the yield rate of 10yr us treasury bonds and the yield of high yield corporate bonds. when you see this credit spread increasing more and more over time, again, we 2008 again.

there is a lot more you can do with these as indicators, but like i said i am simply learning this all for myself right now. hope i was able to be helpful

im still expecting oil to slide and ive been shorting it most of the week, its rallying right now though, so ill probably keep it going till next week. if dollar is seriously negatively impacted due to this tariff i might be looking for moves in gold. im gonna have to read up on how this whole tradewar plays out. i have no idea how i can do it, but i desperately want to short all of canada (trudeau is being an intolerable fucking faggot again) and germany and possibly japan too on a (possible) rally next week.

the only long i have right now is AMRS and its a huge fucking position (for me). i was averaging up the whole way, so that last slide put me in the red, but im not too worried. the bulls are strong there and frequently put up with +50% short interest and only slide a few cents. it also has the advent of absolutely ignoring the major indexes.

might go in on some pennyshit too for this same reason (unaffected by major market moves) if someone shills me one that doesnt suck. mostly just waiting for a run on AMRS up to ER and looking for short opportunities

I hold neither VZ or T, so I can't really make the comparison. I just have T on a watchlist, I figured I'd back up the other anon.

A lot of those companies you mentioned though are in the DVHL etf, which I'm long.

if you're retard dont short, its massively risky
when you short an asset, you make money when it goes down and lose when it goes up. this is the short procedure:

>sell that stock on the market
>when the stock tanks, you buy it back and pocket the diffrence

>> No.8075477

>>8075438
From what I understand, you're borrowing shares at X price in the hopes that they go down. You then return them at a certain point once the price has gone down, and collect the difference between the original value, and the new lower value. But again, I know fuckall about shorting.

>> No.8075510

>>8075438

You borrow a stock valued 10 dollars from a broker, then sell it immediately on market for 10 dollars.

Working under the assumption that at a later date, that stock will really be worth 8 dollars when you have to rebuy it

this is what i meant. just buy in and stay in. if the crash comes years from now the "bottom" might be higher than 2695 S&P which is current day. say it goes to 5k before a major crash but we have plenty of 10ish % corrections along the way. crash comes at 5k down to 3k. still a lot higher than today

Pull back day from the previous two days of green. Nothing major. In fact I wouldn't have minded a sharper drop as I'm mostly swing trading the volatility while sector is bearish for now. Got stopped out on EMH this morning at $5.15, put in an order for $5.06, got only partial fill as it hit that for maybe 30 seconds before rebounding. Now have some free cash so I put in lowball order to maybe catch a gap down Monday morning. Chart says more bearish movement or flat (for EMH) but this sector can be tricky to time so we'll see how that goes.

Look what just happend to VTGN. It just broke $1.26. You could have bought this back when I was shilling it for less that $1.25, but you know it's going to go to $2.50 and then $5 and then $10 and then $20. So you had a chance to double your money 4 times, but now that ship has sailed. The best you can do is almost 4 doubles. But you're probably going to wait until its $7 and buy a peak and flame me when it goes back to $5. Never change /biz/.

Don't get too excited about Warren Buffet quotes. Or, at the very least, be careful to identify the time period he made any particular statement. If you take billionaire Buffet's strategies and try to use them with small amount of capital and rookie understanding of the market, you'll mostly just break even a lot. He's a lot more conservative now that he has scrooge mcduck tier money vault.

My current career is paying me around 30k per month pretax, It will take me some time before I can do that on the stock market and live off the gains. I let the jews figure out my retirement stuff and just leave it alone.

I don't spend very much money on personal objects; so I have a bunch of money sitting in the back and decided to throw half of it into the market last year to learn. I have a mortgage and student loans to pay; but if I can make more than the interest on my debt each month its worth just playing the market rather than paying principal. It keeps my credit score very green for when I need it.
