Hey lads.

I'm an American who wants to quickly and safely send a few hundred dollars to a friend in Russia. I've heard some kind of crypto may be the best way to do this.

No, it's not a scammer or a prostitute or anything like that. It's a friend I met while working in Western Europe a few years ago ago that I completely know and trust. I used to be able to just send a wire transfer, but with the events in Ukraine, that's no longer an option.

Is this possible? Is there some kind of 'Retard's Guide to Sending Money to People in Officially Unfriendly Countries'? I'm sure it's not legal, but I can't imagine anybody's going to give a shit about a few hundred bucks sent to a private citizen with no ties to the Russian military or government.

Thanks.

Hypothetically you would go to a crypto exchange and buy XMR.
Set up a wallet, send it from the exchange to your wallet and then to your friend.

Do *not* use BTC for anything illegal. Exchanges in the US are KYC and the BTC blockchain is totally unencrypted.

to cash out crypto you need banking
and crypto is banned in Russia

wrong. crypto is inherently p2p. all you need is to find a buyer/seller and communicate with them.

why do you lie
>>58647218
agreed, good thing its not illegal
but even if bitcoin was somehow impossible to convert to rubles in russia, the friend can just travel to china or anywhere else outside of the russian border, cash out the bitcoin into rubles, and come back with the now laundered crypto

banned means banking wont process crypto transaction
and that means you can't cash out
and since there is no crypto economy, you can't even use it

eh? you don't need a bank. find someone who wants to buy bitcoin/monero/whatever and sell it to them for cash. it's that simple.
i agree it's not convenient but it definitely works.

I'm not in the US so this isn't my problem, but I'd personally rather not have this trivially tied to my identity.
There's no good reason not to use XMR either, the transaction fee is lower which isn't nothing for a transfer of just a few hundred bucks.

This is less than encouraging.

It sounds like it might not be too hard to send my friend some crypto. How exactly can they convert that to rubles?

They're not going to travel to China or Kazakhstan, and they're not going to spend hours looking on 4chan or Reddit or whatever looking for a buyer.

Paying a fee is okay, but is there an actually simple way for a person who doesn't know or care about crypto to turn it into cash? To put money into their Russian bank account?

Unironically send him a book and just throw some cash in there. Defeat the tech overlords by going old school. It's not glamorous and it will take a while to get there but sometimes the best plan is the simplest.

Yeah you're retarded. Lurk two years before posting. This is BTC we're talking about not some fucking shitcoin swap on ERC-20.
