Redpill me on Forex. Is it a scam? Why does nobody here trade it but all the Tiktok gurus do?

Extremely liquid market means it's extremely efficient. People meme about things being "priced in" in crypto but they really are in forex. Any strategy is zero-sum before fees, meaning you'll be losing over the long term.
Institutions may squeeze out tiny gains with HFT (which is what makes the market so efficient) but that's not remotely possible for a person to do on a retail forex platform.

>Tiktok gurus
None of them trade forex. They make their money from course fees or kickbacks from getting their victims to sign up for particularly scummy platforms.

Its you in your bedroom up against super computers that trigger buy and sells in the microseconds pumped with information feeds from 20000 variables, many of which arent public, in a building thats rented for 10 million dollars a year thats got a fiber cable running directly into the stock exchange 100 feet away with people who have gone to school for decades at the best institutions under the best mentorships running the strategies

you aint winning despite the hustler who charges you 500 dollars for their basic tips telling you they got a lambo doing it

A better analogy would be thinking that you know the outcome of a coin flip by betting on it

You can bet on it but youre watching a live stream of the coin being flipped on a 10 second delay

The super computers bang their bets on in real time whereas you are guessing on whats going to happen while the coin is in the air

Thats basically stock markets for you. You're in the dark with most information. Thats why its basically gambling. You have limtied info you can ascertain and guess and the real players are 10 steps ahead. The best you can do is guess and pray in which you might as well be in the casino

>You can bet on it but youre watching a live stream of the coin being flipped on a 10 second delay
this doesnt matter if you know the what is going to be the result of the coin before it happens

the point of the coin flip is you dont know the outcome

When you pull of a successful trade, or even a string of successful trades it fills you with false confidence that you knew you were doing. Ive turned 50 bucks into 3000 at the casino before, then went back and won another 5000. It doesnt mean I was winning.

Trading works in the same way. Most traders dont win overall because theyre guessing and getting lucky and dont actually have sound knowledge that puts them ahead

well, if you are the one flipping the coin, and you know you're using a rigged coin, then it doesnt take too much effort to "guess" what is going to be the coin flip

the coin is 50/50 but youre watching it 10 seconds lagged behind while the real players are 10 seconds ahead of you and bet on the outcome before you see whether its heads of tails. thats the stock market when youre up against the big boys

everyone in this thread is the typical cynical biz poster who thinks theres no possible way anyone can succeed at anything difficult, most likely because they tried for a short time and failed.
some good points are made about the deep pocket institutions with HFT algos and the fastest execution, but you dont try to compete with these traders on speed. and efficient market theory is a total meme.
its definitely possible to trade forex and futures markets profitably, i have for years. my futures trading vastly outperforms SPY and even most shitcoin returns. whats more funny is that i use technical analysis & indicators, which any other biz poster will say is a meme and doesn't work (it does work, they just suck at it)
the amount of time, experience, and mistakes needed to reach competency in trading markets is considerable (years). most people blow up their accounts or their emotions before reaching that point. what truly makes a great discretionary trader is the amount of self-control, self-awareness, and discipline it takes to out perform other market participants & not fuck yourself. almost no one has this ability, which is where the 99% fail statistic comes from.
its about having a good analysis/trading process, taking asymmetrical bets, and managing your risk.
heres a post trade analysis screenshot from a super simple yen short i made in January this year.

This. Institutions don't even really trade it with a strategy, they just make money from their clients fees needing to trade to eliminate currency risks
