Not really a shock. He's pushing away allies and trade partners like no tomorrow. Renegotiating deals is fine, but push too hard and people will rather just trade with others. Especially since American physical goods on average is pretty expensive compared to quality.
China, Russia and Europe is currently working together to make a new silk road trade route with great infrastructure that will really help the ease of trade. So America should keep that in mind. Not that I think anything drastic will change in a decade, but if this new American foreign political mentality becomes a new norm, America will end up standing alone.

Cutting social spending isn't gonna do shit. Nobody cares about random bums defaulting. If anything lower taxes make it easier to pay off debt for investors. What does make it harder is the tariffs that will make everything more expensive. Doing this at the same time as the Fed is raising interest rates is retarded. What's the big deal about tariffs? Under Free Trade, everyone spends a little less money on goods, but we have to pay tax to care for people who get their jobs sent to China. Under a tariff, we spend more money on goods, but we don't pay for as many welfare users whose jobs were sent to China. At least in the latter scenario our manufacturing centers are located in the US, as in, not in some Southeast Asian country where they could get bombed by China in a hypothetical war.

I don't think it is a big deal. Free global movement of goods and people is a meme, but plebs think we live in that world. Trump is rightly pointing out that most of our trading partners have very protectionist and subsidised economies (at least in certain sectors). I don't think there is anything wrong with that, but to get mad at the US putting protectionist tarrifs on our goods and services shouldn't be as controversial as it is. Norway is a good example of extreme economic protectionism that works. It helps that it is still a de facto ethnostate.

This is wrong.
Printing money makes inflation worse WHATEVER the economic growth.
remember,
Monetary mass * Velocity = Price level * Produced goods, or MV = PQ
If Q increases (increase in economic activity) and we print money (M increase), P doesn't MOVE because V also increase with Q (how could you produce more goods if the velocity stays the same.). I think so. The pseudo intellectuals on reddit are too concerned about being anti trump at all costs to try and objectively pursue truth. Go try and have a real non-hostile discussion there sometime. There are more autistic sperging faggots there than here ironically. This trade war stuff has yet to resolve at all one way or the other and I think any sort of grandstanding like this before it does is ultimately meaningless. IF we actually are getting fucked on trade then doing something about it is better than letting things be. Whether Trumps aggressive approach is the way to go has yet to unfold. Arguments like this redditor are putting forward neglect to see that those other countries have a vested interest in keeping things the way they are so of course they are going to criticizes Trump for doing this even if he does have a point and leverage. I'm biased in that I hope he is right because I have money in the markets and I want to see all these people eat shit if Trump actually gets his way. Time will tell.

They have more buying power for their dollar though when it comes to large purchases.

On a side note, I don’t think lowering the income taxes on the upper brackets was the right thing to do. I would’ve preferred it if Trump lowered the taxes for the lowest two and then just eliminated incentive for poor people to have more children, stop tax dollars going towards abortions, trans surgeries, and eliminated DACA funding and federal funding of sanctuary cities (just going off the top of my head).
If the country is going to increase the budget, then we should at least keep the taxes more or less the same. Also, just introduce a new corporate tax bracket for small businesses and try to eliminate loop holes that don’t encourage reinvestment back into building the economy.
I’m a conservative socially more than I am economically.

Both parties have suggested increasing GDP (ie the basically nonpartisan infrastructure bill).

We need to cut the spending back, way back. Then we can lower the taxes. Or do both at once.

I will say trump is trying to have his cake and eat it to with spending and taxes. But, I also think even in the confusion of this "trade war" the US will continue to come out on top and level out our trade defecit.

I guess it's more the implications of comparative advantage that are unintuitive, like why freer trade is often a good thing.

this unironically seems like the best route to me desu.

Make temporary work visas easier to obtain for unskilled labor so we can profit from them. Because it's just a visa there's more incentive to just stay in America for work and leave later, as opposed to trying to be a permanent resident (an illegal knows they're gonna have a lot of trouble getting back in if they ever leave, in contrast).

Being part of the legal framework instead of the shady underground gives incentives to work with law enforcement and also makes it much more palatable among bleeding hearts to deport troublemakers.

Then the gubmint can use that tax money to help out unskilled Americans so they can find other jobs and don't have to compete with the Mexicans picking fruit.

Meanwhile the Mexicans can take that money they earn and invest back home, while still helping out the American economy. It's not a zero-sum game; everyone can win.

Jesus Christ is this kid posting on pleb a fucking retard. The rise in equities and current market is a direct result of lower corporate taxes and business friendly legislation. Obama policy impeded growth not caused it. The FED is going to crash this economy and Trump is a willing participant as there is no escape from the coming mess. He knew this when he was campaigning when he called it a bubble. The tariffs will bring pain but not fixing the shitty trade deals will fuck us harder in the long run. Trump can out maneuver any and all of the vapid socialist fucktards he’s up against so I have no doubt he’ll end up on top here. This will lead to the up coming fall to be a recession and not a depression because we haven’t recovered from 2008. FED is only raising now to be able to cut in the recession.

The CBO scored the cost of the tax plan at around 2.3 trillion while increasing revenue from economic growth at around 461 billion. That means we're going to pay 1.9 Trillion.
As of 6 days ago, Trump threatened to retaliate against China in the current on-going trade war with $200bn in tariffs. If China matches that, that's literally half the economic benefits from the tax plan gone in tariffs. And that doesn't touch what our allies will do to us. You're literally autistic as hell if you think for even a minute that Trump isn't rawdogging us

The market will crash primarily because of the policies that lead us to the amount of debt we have and the policies of the Fed.

Donald Trump's bad policies (cutting social spending is not one) are like a sprinkle on a shit cake.

The CBO was hardly off on it's ACA assessment, they were much closer on the mark than literally every other reputable estimate out there. Yes they over-estimated the number of people getting covered on the insurance exchanges, but they also seriously underestimated the number of people who would get Medicaid coverage.

Unless you're about to peddle some conspiratorial nonsense, there's no reason to doubt that CBO is at least right generally, if not specifically correct. And it's much easier to calculate the direct loss as a result of revenue collection going down, than it is the specific mindset of people who may or may not use a newfangled government-sponsored insurance exchange
