Alright /biz/, I know you are not focused on career advice, but I need to get my shit together and figure out a way to get money. Tear me apart.

>be 28
>live in random country you don't care about
>graduated art school at a somewhat prestigious university to the standards not that this matters much
>have been working part time in a public library for the past 3 years
>extremely safe job with no challenges or much room to grow, also boring as fuck (upside: I can read and study in the workplace if I have nothing to do that day and it also only takes my afternoon)
>salary: 8k a year (all values adapted to dollar value)
>help from father 5k a year
>most I was able to save in my life: 1k
>most debt I ever was: 3k
>how much money I normally have by the end of the month: 0
>no properties or anything

Fuck me. I can't save money for anything, I buy clothes once a year, I don't travel, I don't even dream about buying a car, much less a house.

I am a very good draftsman imho, but I didn't have any breakthrough as an illustrator. I've started private teaching too, which I sorta like, but it's not fullfilling, not at all safe and by not having worked with my art professionally it literally feels "those who can't do, teach", even though I know I can do. I'm clever as fuck too, whatever if that's arrogant, I entered college in number one and graduated number one in class too, my grades upon entering would have been enough for medicine in the same school. In the library, they were still working with cards in pockets at the end of the book, medieval tech really and I've upgraded it upon learning from scratch and setting up a system with Access and VBA. I could sell such a system alone for 10 times my salary, but there is literally no one to see it and give me a raise or seomething, besides the employees and I have no qualification or contacts in IT.

I'm an underachiever as fuck, feels like wasting my potential. My degree is useless except for education in museums, which I had my share and it's small and does not pay well. My skills as a draftsman is useless unless I advertise it, but since I graduated I lost contact with other people in the area and there is zero return.

And here I am pondering on how to sell a little print of a drawing I did or something. I realize that's pretty pathetic business strategy, but then, what should I do instead? My mindset is totally wrong about this. I need to set short, mid and long term strategies for my life. Help.

Lucky you that software and art both scale extremely easily. You also have tons of free time for side hustling..

>I could sell such a system alone for 10 times my salary, but there is literally no one to see it and give me a raise or seomething

Have you considered getting in touch with other libraries? Have your boss pass along word if you're a super autist, but reach out to other universities in your country and see if they'd be interested in licensing your software.

Otherwise >>9953036 is the correct answer. All you need is zero judgement/limits and the ability to get hi-res work online. You will end up making hundreds or thousands a month just for drawing furry diaper porn over and over again.

Jesus, I'll have to sell my soul then. I guess I can create an art name for that. I'll study my options in that regard.

On the tech system, it's complicated. There is an IT team where I work, but they handle a gigantic complex and I don't even know them. My direct boss is younger than me and a boot licker of my real boss which I rarely ever see. And as an autodidact, I'd have to get feedback on what I did to at least know better if it is saleable anyway.

Thank you
