What are your moves for the upcoming week /smg/?

Popular brokers for stock trading:

Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

FED shitpost
Market is expecting a rate hike

But we don't know what is the stance of the FED about inflation, growth and yield curve. These things are kind of related

Dovish FED: everything soars, gold dumps
Hawkish FED:: everything tanks, USD soars

Nobody wants to crash the market, least of all Powell.

His goal is to deleverage gently. I think he will let things as they are and not announce additional surprise rate hikes (remember, a stronger USD will crash EM even more and that will trigger a global selloff due to marging calls).

I don't bet on this kind of event but I would do the opposite of what the market will be doing on monday and tuesday.

So it's going to be as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be?

Sorry for asking stupid questions, I'm as green as you can be and I'm still trying to figure this all out. I just put my first 1000 in the market Wednesday and I'm not sure if I should pull out or hold on for the ride.

>> No.9814627

>>9814226
The FED will 100% raise rates on Wednesday, by a quarter, to 1.75 which will negatively affect equities (borrowing becomes more expensive).

Advice: Hold on to your cash and learn.
$1,000 is nothing for stocks.

>> No.9814977

>>9814226
I am a macro noob too but I try to learn

The rate hike is priced in, really
Any market movement will come from the accompanying words of Powell and how the market interprete them

Example: if Powell says he is going to monitor more closely the inflation rate because it is hovering around 2%, then market will probably see that as hawkish and send the markets crashing (and USD, JPY soaring)

As I say, don't trade on that, try to invest in fields you have knowledge on (animu and vidya I guess)

this article has a marxist air about it. but thats just because a lot of it hinges on the concept of conflict theory and how that will literally become obsolete if the capitalist class can manufacture all necessary resources of theirs on their own. at that point you dont need proles, or a work force to perpetually, exponentially profit off of.

i get it i get it, blah blah commies. but its actually a very interesting read and is more an analysis of growing monopolies than any of that jazz,

idk, keep an open mind, but be ready to critique.

What will matter is Powell's words and the FED's sentiment. Should they give a hint of a more hawkish stance, the markets would get rekt and USD will soar. Personally, I don't think the FED will be more hawkish

Honestly it's just what little I understand about the bond market.
When the US fed raises rates, it forces smol countries with shittier economies to raise rates as well. Why would you want 3% from an unstable nation like Ukraine if you could get it from the United States?
You can look at recent cases in South America, Turkey, etc where their currency collapses AND they have to raise rates even higher to keep the borrowed money flooding in.
TL;DR
1) US raises rates
2) Sucks money out of emerging shitty countries
3) shitty countries have to raise rates
4) strain put on nations economy
5) things get even worse because borrowing is expensive for that country
6) raise rates even more
7) puts on EMB profit
t. basic understanding of bond market economics, probably wrong

That is, no larpo, a summary of what I'm doing with SDRL and HMNY. If my options on a position are under $300, I'm not being serious about it.
Plus, I'm doing a straddle, so i was thinking it's not like I can go wrong here... Little did I know that I was literally playing up against a Jew with HMNY.

>>9822411
Where'd you find his CV?
I don't think CEOs usually have a CV since they run companies and thusly don't have to apply for jobs -- they employ others.

Has DRYS literally failed yet? No. The ticker is still available.
Is DRYS a good idea to short?
I want you to look at November/December of 2016 -- it literally ran up 30% in a single fucking day.
Look at the fucking 5 year chart for both DRYS and HMNY.
I don't think HMNY does reverse splits, DRYS does.

This fucker knows exactly what he's doing. The other anon was 100% correct that he's a scam artist. The fucker is smart, and don't think that you can outsmart him just because you know that it's a scam. I fully expect to lose every penny that I spend on HMNY whether puts, calls, or straight options.
I hope you didn't do a straight short, anon, because he will blow your margins just like that fucker running DRYS did to so many back in 2016.

I think you can get dividends up to 15% with utilities companies.
Depends on how much you need to live off of and how sustainably.

Depends how risky you want to be and how much money is needed to live.

My goal is to have about 2 million invested in high-dividend general market and realty funds which will average a dividend yield of about 3%. That way I can live comfy off of 60k at least the initial year and more as the market grows.

If the general stock market doubles every 6-8 years, then I could be getting a comfy 120k a year.

But you could also eat shit if it gets slashed in half like it did 08. But 30k in dividends is still possible to live on if you get a mcjob on the side.

I read about a boomer who lives off of the dividends paid out from the millions has has invested in O (reality income ETF). very comfy
