When I did my own research on a bunch of projects (smart contract based because I personally see this as the main use case for blockchain) I found myself back at the same problem, how are we going to connect our legacy banking infrastructure (a lot of people like to be cypto-anarchist and tell you that it will topple the NWO, that is crazy talk and not where the money is). The one question you should always ask yourself in business is "is there an easier way" because if there is it could save you thousands, or millions of dollars in expenses/overhead costs. Technology has come a long way and I believe self executing, self verifiable smart contracts are the next step, the fourth industrial revolution.
