Popular brokers for stock trading:

Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

TESLA

Their self-driving technology is more important than all these others metrics. I don't care if they make 5,000 or 10,000 cars a week. They promised an autonomous drive car doing a cross country trip in 2017. The entire stock is going to live or die on whether their self-driving fleet tech works or not. How long to hit production numbers on tesla 3 isn't that important.

What're you eating how're you doing?

I'm having a BLT on fresh fire toasted schiacciata bread and some kettle chips and I'm a little down today. I bought a couple shares in ROAD instead of SBUX yesterday but I still got a ton of free capital so I'm looking for ideas. Too late for me to do a put on TLT I think.

Couple of questions for the community:

1. I've been holding AMD for over a year, was memed into it at like $15.20, watched it go down to about $9 and suddenly it's at an all time high. I'm inclined to sell because its P/E is at almost 400 which is obscene. Thoughts?

2. NTDOY, is it a buy? P/E is excellent when compared to ATVI, EA and TTWO, and this dip looks juicy. Is E3 going to be big for them this year?

i have been

been selling covered calls against SVXY. prolly he safest way to short VIX i can think of. when VIX spikes, you sell ATM calls against your shares, then buy it back once vol turns again. if it goes past yur strike, you just take it and try again.

on one hand its disappointing that they deleveraged it, but n the other hand, its nice that liquidation is no longer possible in one day like last time

>>9775772
people do this with UVXY calls. 99.99% of the time youre wrong, but ive done it a couple times before and won like 500% two of those time, so its not impossible. i would never hold stock thats long VIX though. a small amount of calls at least sets your risk to what you put down. think of it as scratchers, because thats your odds and payouts pretty much

VIX itself is un-tradable

but there are tradeable derivates that mimic VIX

the way they work is trading the difference between short-term and longer-term futures

since long-term futures decay less over time than short-term, their price difference tends to go down

Look up leveraged etfs. They split / reverse split constantly because decay

Basically, say you but 1 share at $10. The next day the stocks that it tracks go up 10%. You now have $11. The next day those same stocks drop by 10%. You think you're back to your original buy? No. You lost 10% of the 11$ so you lost more.

Personally I only daytrade and hold them for a couple hours.

even unleveraged VIX ETFs experience exponential decay and the decay is much more than regular leverage slippage.

Yes, of course. Then you go down and can develop a better system. A government that doesn't allow mechanisms of tax % changes, that splits at some other divide rather than a battle for more or less redistribution. Maybe design it so the focus is on efficient usage of those resources. Redesign it even more so the legal writing is re-written in a better designed language similar to software. You can go on and on through this pathway.

The problem is you end up in the same spot. The nexus of all these systems is still humanity. All those changes you've made, even though improving the system, are pointless. Because growth in the underlying nexus (increasing IQ) or in artificial intelligence swamps those gains. Meaning all those changes and system tweaks you've forced through would end up pointless in comparison to simply increasing the most important variable.

Hence everyone intelligent enough doesn't care much for existing systems.

You sound similar to me a few years ago
Currently 25, started with $3000 when I was 23
Buy bluechips and hold, don't panic sell
I've lost hundreds chasing memes (never use more than 5% of your cash on memes) lost hundreds selling early (once had 10 HEAR@ $1.25 a piece, sold them at $0.99 a piece, they are currently $18.20 a piece) (I once had shares of FCAU at $5.50 a piece, sold them @ $6.75 a piece, currently worth $21.20 a share)
Avoid 3x ETF's, even if you make money at first, you will lose it eventually

Just don't get discouraged, and diversify as much as you can afford
I was below my original account for a good 8 months at first, never been below my starting point since, after I stopped going all in on memes
My BA stock is up %135+ and my AMZN is up %60 from when I bought it (would be more if I stopped trying to reposition myself so often), my MU average price is $30.00, and my other tech stocks (MSFT, NVDA, AMD) are all up %35 on average

Some advice I'd give my younger self is buy a few stocks with big dividends, then just use dividend money to buy memes (bio-penny stocks, Greek shipping memes)
And buy SPY and DIA every time they have a red day, I really wish I realized that sooner

yes and no. 1000% returns are very much possible (but unlikely). but that leverage works both ways. they are also WAY more likely than stocks to get completely nuked. youre basically trading safety and likelihood of making money for intense leverage. if you ont know shit about them, STOP and DONT TRADE THEM YET. watch the videos in the OP and read up on as many books as you can about them. then papertrade them so you get comfy with them. and dont neglect to learn the maths behind the pricing. its 100% worth it
