NEW THREAD edition

Popular brokers for stock trading:

Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access

TD Ameritade
>$6.95 commission per trade. No minimum to open. Fantastic data/charting through their free ThinkorSwim service

This, it's actually a very good rule to wake up before the markets open and look at the Asian Markets and European Markets because if both of them tank then you can pretty much expect the US to tank as well. If you pay attention to the other markets you would be surprised how much their bullshit influences one another.

I just got an email from my Merrill lynch broker (I have a guy who manages my CMA for now.. I want a year of trading under my belt before I fuck with it) and he just bought some stock in Phillip Morris tobacco ... chart actually looks good and they're switching their investments to cater to smokeless futures and ecigs. I dont fo longholds like I keep saying, but if that is your thing, that is a better buy than $GIS and $KHC imo. It gapped down harder and faster and will probably have a stronger recovery based on their fincancials

June contracts are comming due so there will be nice swings to pivot. I reccomend a 34 point LR band with +/- 2 sd tracers as a pivot guide for start stops. Remember dont go in more than 1 contract for any 10k in your account.

Here's the thing about dogs. They are genetically bread for thousands of years to instantly love you from birth.
When I meet a dog friend, I feel like I'm cheating because it likes me.
Cats, on the other hands, only evolved along side humans due to catching mice in grain storage during the rise of agraculture. They are less dependent on humans and couldn't give a damn if we died.
If you're friends with a kot, you know it actually likes you. dogs have been brainwashed from birth to like you

I figure it's similar to the hyper inflation like the German Mark went through in WWII except more of a localized event due to a shitty government, the nation is sitting on incredible oil reserves so that resource will continued to be highly valued for decades to come (sorry hippies) so it seems like a great opportunity to enter into a position so when a new government gets installed (or if this one gets it's act right, which it won't but one can hope) things will begin to turn around thereafter.

It's just a hunch but global currencies much like corporations will slowly go through their own consolidation period just as Europe did with the Euro and looking through history the Council of the European Union in '98 moved to accept an exchange rate of DM 1.95583 = €1 in order to help phase out one old currency for another. Since the Euro has led the way it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to think that other countries may -in an effort to curtail their own struggling currencies such as in the case of Venezuela- open for a centralized Latin version of the Euro as well.

So I figured weighting the benefits-to-risk, that if this may be the case (even if it is something like 40 years down the line) a cheap acquisition now could be way huge later, in the form of the value starting to level off to more reasonable inflation levels or through this exchange into a new currency form.

Just a hunch though.

no really though.. how have your gains been since january? i have a friend that turned 10k into 100k in less than 2 months and thought he was the king of trading but he still hasn't got a clue on how anything works and is now hung up on the idea of crypto and is slowly losing his gains because he never really learned how to trade.. he just got lucky..

If you are trying to learn about etfs there are some people in here during the trading hours that will tell you alot about etfs. leveraged etfs can be very detrimental to a portfolio because mostly all of them decay. The good thing about them is that they make for good day trades or week trades if you are trying to take a good swing at particular markets.. for example if you are bullish on oil you may buy WTIU or if you are bearish you may buy WTID they are leveraged so they will have bigger swings and they trade like a stock, so they usually have good liquidity.. but also run a huge risk because of their swings.

If you are looking for fixed income etfs you should also be careful of leveraged ones.. if you get a fixed income etf that is based on bonds you have to kind of understand when the bonds mature because if the bonds mature and who ever is in charge of that etf isn't on top of it you may end up losing some of the assets in that etf because the bonds have now matured and have paid out the principle in dividends.. fixed income etfs with preffered shares can get hit if some of the prefferred shares in the portfolio get "called back" i think that is what it's called and that is when the corporation that issued the preffered shares buy them back and the divi is no longer paid and that fixed income etf can fall quickly.

There are many things to different etfs so it's really about what kind of trading you are looking to do with them, whether you want to just track a certain market or trade that market or if you want income or whatever the case... you first need to find out what you really want

Oversold bounce on TBP as expect. Shot up 9% in first 30 minutes. Waiting to see if this bounce can convert to short squeeze and breakout.

RTI with some profit taking from yesterday's 20% climb but not much. 4% drop at open and with plenty of buy volume coming in now. Looks good for continuation.

Sector is majority green coming up to the senate vote tomorrow. Lots of tickers up 5%+. Bulls are back and in greater numbers.

I'm hoping for at least $50 next week sometime. Last year was great for Nintendo, the Switch sold very well and led to some great revenue and profits for the company, this dip down to the mid $40's seems like a great buying opportunity to me.

What do you guys think about buying Indian 10 year bonds? The rate is above 7% and will go up. Rating is solid. Much better than fucking Brazil even at 1/2 of the yield. India is not gonna tank right?

The best predictive model for a country is trying to understand the IQ of those in control of resources. People think Inequality is bad as if 80 IQ people are going to use capital wisely. India's low IQ genetic masses put a damper on any upward trends. You can't view it as a 1 billion population country the same you can with China. The labor value of Chinese is so much higher.

Same reason no one views the population in Africa as a good labor value.

Their self-driving technology is more important than all these others metrics. I don't care if they make 5,000 or 10,000 cars a week. They promised an autonomous drive car doing a cross country trip in 2017. The entire stock is going to live or die on whether their self-driving fleet tech works or not.
