Good Afternoon /smg/ what are the big moves for today?

Popular brokers for stock trading:

Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access
http://www.interactivebrokers.com

TD Ameritade
>$6.95 commission per trade. No minimum to open. Fantastic data/charting through their free ThinkorSwim service

Degiro (Cheap broker for Europeans)

i'm honestly more interested in the short squeeze.. shorts are digging themselfs a hole. To me the article is saying that yes there are some big investors in BGFV bigger than the average retail crowd and that yes they do find it undervalued and that they are holding.. There are only about 20million shares in the float and half of those are short.. imagine how many shares those investors own in order to write the company and get an article written about it. There is obviously some big players in BGFV and one of those big players is a big fat short that isn't covering.. when they finally go to cover it should be glorious

It should definitely go below $120.
I started a small short on Friday when it was still a little under $120 but looking overvalued. When it flew above $120 on market open Tuesday amidst intense Italian FUD turmoil, I knew that I was onto something and bought a fuck ton more puts.
I don't know what the price should be, but the yield show go back over 3% for the final target.

A lot of smaller investors decide they want to play super risky because how little they have. imo this is crazy is is why they don't have much in the first place because they never let themselves build up their wealth. portfilio dynamics don't change much based on size and in fact with a smaller portfolio you want to be trading less due to fees. Ive seen traders here lose 50% of their money and build it back so many times at this point and meanwhile I'm still growing. Once you get a bigger egg, feel free to make risky plays with 10% of your portfolio but for now slow and steady is what you want.

The only companies that I know off the top of my head to have 0 debt are HMNY and FIT.
AAPL and MSFT have mountains of debt. I think most banks even have mountains of debt (that I believe they get directly from the feds).
It's because companies can easily get a better ROI on their products than the interest that they pay to service that debt.

Economies of scale are a game changer when you can scale up like FB, GOOG, or NFLX at little to no cost.
This is why the P/E ratio can fly into the hundreds or they can go so long while unprofitable.
NFLX is still being mostly valued off a popular VC valuation metric -- the subscriber count growth -- which when combined with the fact that they actually are profitable, unlike SNAP, results in explosive growth and insane market caps because of

goodwill comes into play when you buy another company. goodwill is just the diffrence between what you paid for that company and the book value of that company.

for example
you have $100 million cash
you buy a company worth $10 million for $20 million
accounting says you still have the same amount of value so your balance sheet now reads $80 million cash, $10 million company A and $10 million in goodwill

goodwill is somewhere between "the intangible value of a company that you bought for a fair price" and "how bad you are at negotiating accusations"

That's what I was getting at in the second half of the post with the thing about the marketing department.
>you also get to toot your own horn and tell you how you are turning the company around and gain visibility as a CEO
I don't agree with this. I don't think CEOs really go through a hiring process in the same way that you and I do -- they don't really go "job hunting"... If they can think of a more profitable opportunity than what they are currently involved in, they just go out and seize it, kind of like what Elon Musk does with all his memes... but usually with more forethought.
A CEO appearing on a show for that reason would legitimately concern me because it would mean that he lost faith in the ideas behind the company that he's running and is looking for an exit plan.
>and usually the show gives you neat perks like flying you around on a private jet or something
I'd imagine the CEO would already have a private jet or have better things to do.
Seeing all those products on the table, my original thought was that Newell paid for them all to be there and paid Cramer a little cash for the product placement... and then the CEO showed up.

think about it like this

Cramer wants an entertaining show. He wants some high powered CEO to show up so people watch his show and he sells advertising. He cant call up the CEO and say "hey man want to come on my show so I can bash you publicly?" because the CEO will tell him to stuff it. Cramer has to give the CEO something for access. In this case, it looks like the CEO got an opportunity to shill his company. That's very common in the financial entertainment business -- because Cramer is just that, entertainment -- a show will give a company favorable coverage in exchange for the company giving the show access.

And I really do think CEOs would love to be on TV its a power symbol for them and if they have to shill the company they work for for five minutes to do it they're more than willing.

I agree with this so far.
>Cramer has to give the CEO something for access. In this case, it looks like the CEO got an opportunity to shill his company.
This part bugs me, but I definitely think could be the incentive for some -- which I believe could establish a track record of companies that show up on Cramer's show having poor returns.
Most CEOs, and I've definitely seen this with Elon Musk, want to maximize their ownership of their own companies.
Elon Musk had that painful last Earnings Call and bought stock like a day later -- he wanted to get his shares on the cheaps.
It's very unnatural for a CEO to go out and hype his company as a stock, rather than hyping the products it sells.
They want the company's income to do well, but they don't want the stock price to necessarily do well -- maximizing profit per share going into their pocket.
>That's very common in the financial entertainment business -- because Cramer is just that, entertainment -- a show will give a company favorable coverage in exchange for the company giving the show access.
I agree with this too.
>And I really do think CEOs would love to be on TV its a power symbol for them and if they have to shill the company they work for for five minutes to do it they're more than willing.
This bugs me too.
CEOs typically have no interest in their own visibility unless they're going "job hunting" for positions at boomer companies that don't sit well with their current board of directors.

He's not.

The rest of the world is actually overreacting/trying to outbluff him. He has a perfectly justifiable point that the US has suffered greatly in the name of "free" trade, particularly with countries like China, but the rest of the world expects an America that continues to bend over and get raped up the ass. Trump isn't like that, though, so the rest of the world is trying to play the bluffing game when Trump literally isn't bluffing.

Expect far more massive tariffs to come in the future. This won't be because Trump wants a trade war, mind you, it'll be because to him that's the only way to force the rest of the world to the table.

As an example, the steel tariffs. They're particularly large, sure, but actually rather reasonable considering how much cheap steel has been dumped on the US and the world by certain countries. (As an aside, it's especially ironic that the Dutch Steel organization recently came out stating that the EU needed to "protect EU steelmakers" from the coming dumping of cheap steel that would otherwise have gone to the US. Because it's totally ok to dump cheap steel on the US, right, "allies???")

Alas, there will be a trade war. See, Trump doesn't WANT a trade war, he merely wants negotiations. But the rest of the world, especially Canada and Mexico, instead of merely being reciprocal and laying modest tariffs on US steel and aluminum, overreacted and put tariffs specifically targeting Trump's political base. And do you know what he did when China tried to pull that shit?

He tripled the tariffs.

So yea, Canada and Mexico, prepare yourself. The orange man doesn't bluff.

Tomorrow I (((think))) the large caps should be somewhat red or hovering flat still with maybe or maybe not some power hour nonsense tossed in right before close. Small caps are starting to take turns making short violent rises followed be consolidation on a shallow slope downward for a few days, then repeat. Seems like a lot of investors are ready and willing to go full batshit fomo on any kind of half assed pump, so they do, then they get dumped on and limp away to complain about short attacks on pleddit or stocktwits or whatever. I think I understood the JPY dump
>BOJ just tapered its JGB buying program
>surprisingly JPY is not strengthened
>because I think that move causes more actual JPY to be freely in the market

I hope my logic is correct because this shit looks fucking nuts otherwise

If anyone is actually interested in burning money along with me, keep an eye on WWR, which I've shilled in this thread and before. I was greedy and didn't take an 8% profit when I had the opportunity around a week or so ago, but I would definitely recommend watching if it holds above .35. Westwater Resources will absolutely become swollen and become a fountain of salty genetic material if foreign countries apply tariffs on uranium; that would make the market right for WWR to restart operations.

Only apply the correct amount of fucking around money. I happen to have sunk $9,500 into it, of which about $950 has went into the ether. Remember, it's not investing, it's funtrading! Also, buy tight SPY puts dated about a month out and cash out at 40% profit, works like a charm

What do your monthly expenses look like? I don't know how the turnaround time is for options approval these days, but I'd suggest putting in a small amount and fucking around with options. You just need to stay on top of things and not be greedy, as you can easily find yourself up 100% one day and immediately -80% on your gamble the next day at 9:30:01.

Maybe sink $500 in for now, throw three or four hundred at a non-meme, and see how it feels for you.

Whatever you do, do it before Trump cancels the Canada-Mexico-EU trade war, and before the Koreas reunify.
