Robinhood

http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

It doesn't lock in the profits, it caps them. The only downside protection is from the premium on the call.
If I have 100 shares of FB at 160$, and sell off a call striked at 185$ for a total premium of 500$,
1) if it goes to 0, I've lost 160*100 dollars, but made the premium of 500 dollars -- net loss 15,500$
2) if it goes to 500$, I've only made (185-160)*100 bucks off the shares and 500 off the premium -- net gain of 3,000$

Covered calls are for when you think the stock will do well at a steady pace, like indices -- you're holding all this shit. Maybe it'll go for a run that I didn't predict, but most likely I'll make money off speculative losers.
Buying naked calls are for when you're enthusiastic about a break out coming up.
So, I'd sell covered calls off my SPY and LMT/NOC shares which are steady growth to me, but I held naked calls on FB when it dipped hard and I felt it was unwarranted

Sorry if this is unwarranted spoon-feeding or beating you over the head with a point.

kek i know how cov calls work
if it goes past it, it locks in profits at a set level (you "lose out", but i dont think like that. i got paid to do it, and it was safe. nothing wrong with that). downside protection is good no matter what imo. and the premium and cost basis reduction is very helpful. especially if trading in a larger account. and you can just keep doing them over and over again to get free money out of selling invalids calls and JUSTing them on theta

you should go ITM imo
bonds move slow. and OTM options theta is WAY worse. and since its so slow, itll likely stay OTM for a long time as bonds generally range calmly in between moves. also, more importantly, the delta is WAY higher on ITM options. this makes the option gain and lose money faster (at the expense of having to put more down). the 20-30 day TLT options are the secret. if you go ITM theres TONS of volume/open interest. thats the ticket.

The 20 year will pump with the 10 year. The 10 year should be at 3% thanks to the rate hikes, but idiotic, superstitious pseudo-fundies think it's a magic number for a market crash and try to pump bonds to stay above that number as if a 3% yield shouldn't even be possible right now.
The feds will hike rates again in June, that yield MUST rise by the Jewish satanic powers that Andrew Jackson was bribed into giving the feds.

yeah its a total waste and the drawdown takes forever. itll just range on you just out of reach for months before diving in. happened to me the first time i did it.

the best way, if youre confidant of a gap up or down, is to buy at close and sell on the bell. bond market opens at 8:20 so sometimes youll get justed, but if you do the 25 day contracts the theta should be low enough if youre deep ITM. and generally, when bonds are down, they just get bought back up again during the day and vice versa. the big moves are overnight.

SAN FRANCISCO — Apple once had grand aspirations to build its own electric self-driving car and lead the next generation of transportation. Over time, the tech giant’s ambitions ran into reality.

So Apple curtailed its original vision, first by focusing on software for self-driving cars and then by working solely on an autonomous shuttle for its own use with employees. Now, the tech giant has settled for an auto partner that was not its first choice.

In recent years, Apple sought partnerships with the luxury carmakers BMW and Mercedes-Benz to develop an all-electric self-driving vehicle, according to five people familiar with the negotiations who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. But on-again, off-again talks with those companies have ended after each rebuffed Apple’s requirements to hand over control of the data and design, some of the people said.

Instead, Apple has signed a deal with Volkswagen to turn some of the carmaker’s new T6 Transporter vans into Apple’s self-driving shuttles for employees — a project that is behind schedule and consuming nearly all of the Apple car team’s attention, said three people familiar with the project.

Every variable against oil is going to hit around EOY. Electric car success, self-driving success, etc.

People dont get that multiplicative effect of autonomous vehicles. If the autonomous vehicles are electric they will replace x10 oil cars. The current cost of a self-driving car for say google is like 240,000 dollars. Upgrading that to electric is a pittance.

So put a huge multiple on electric vehicles going forward, people haven't priced this in due to low IQ. Oil EOY $50 ish is a slam dunk

They are a purely design company. At least Intel got its fair share of patents in process, integration and design. And of course the second largest array of fabs in the world. A different beast altogether.

Netflix fucked up not going for a steam model. The key was to become the place everyone else sold their shows on. Instead they went for a subscription site instead of a publishing platform.

Now netflix is stuck in a never-ending non-profitable business model of having to create all the content for sale on their site.

Comparing it to steam, gog, etc which is mature and has a longer history than TV. Now they are slowly going to become a "channel" rather than a platform. The valuation is doomed but sadly no one will realize it till they have been a channel for a few years and everyone has similar platforms. Itunes/Amazon have better platforms for selling shows now.

I thought this could be the place where I fused the banter of /pol with my love of trading. Y’all should lighten up. Here is a A tip for Robin Hood fags. $trvn. I think will hit 7 by November. Have an fda approval decision coming up. New kind of opiod for hospital use only that is less prone to being addictive. Already signed a deal for South Korea distribution.

Satellite internet isn't a big novelty, and its use cases are pretty much only the most remote areas. 5G however is currently only viable in high-density urban areas, so it would be the exact opposite usecase.

I know, I'm just going to be getting too busy to monitor stock prices constantly over the next few weeks so I decided to pull out so I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. The only thing I'm holding now is 250 shares of JD which should take another month or two to reach my sell target.

Thoughts on the TLT market for next week? I'm going to roll the dice and load up on some more puts for next Friday, this gap up isn't making much sense to me, but what do I know right?

I said a lot about DD. In the last 3 weeks have done more in govt contracts than there entire market cap. Opened a new distribution hub last 4th quarter. Stock at all time lows. CEO bought shares this week.

Seriously tho. I'd love to short BABA, BIDU, and JD, but they are most likely never going down, due to:
>China
Their sketchy ass facade model of mega corporations is spooky as fuck.

How is large-scale swarms of drones that blow up on skulls not interesting?

nothing is more interesting than drone warfare. It's like as if we evolved into insects all the sudden. Can you imagine a city covered in small, cheap drones that kill anyone who is a threat?

Yeah, most Chinese companies' "accounting practices" are bullshit and probably fraudulent to at least some degree. I wouldn't hold any of them forever but there's some serious money to be made with them in the near term.

>>9608826
It recently hit their 52 week low a few weeks ago after hitting their 52 week high at the end of January. Looks like support here is strong and it won't be going much below $35 again, should easily hit $40-$45 near term, maybe $60 by EOY.
